XIV trader: ‘I’ve lost $4 million, 3 years of work and other people’s money’

I have to believe it. I knew of and heard of many similar stories between 1998-00. Typically newer traders who did the same thing over and over again, day after day and found the right spots in the markets. This time around, absent real significant dd's in those short vol products, for the...

    ES Journal - 2017/2018

87 fractal would be that secondary failed retest of the high/lower high (just under 2800) and a crash under the 2016 lows. Or do you have something different?

Prudent Risk Management Is The Only True Edge In TRADING

Careful. Buy1Sell2 is a professional poker player AND professional trader. But rumor has it that he is a pretty lousy golfer.

I'm sorry, I forgot you were living in 1979.

Hate to break it to Buy1Sell2, but this is not an orderly pullback.

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

This is exactly why you want a healthy bull market to have intermediate corrections, some ebb and flow and not simply go vertical for 15 months straight. Everyone gets out of position at some point and it all collapses upon itself.

Problem with this market is that nasdaq is still a mile away from the last breakout point (Dec 18-19 high's). There is just air there. AMZN holding it all up and from clearing lower. (Also note the lower channel line connecting Oct 25/Dec 6/Dec 29.)

Can we make alarm if Dow is down >2%

It's not much of an exaggeration to state that a not insignificant number of fund managers have never seen a bear market in stocks NOR a prolonged correction. 2009 is already 9 years ago and there are plenty of guys and gals under the age of 30 running the show. And who would be more likely...

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

Agreed. The market hadn't put in even a modest correction in 14 months. The last time SPX even tested the 200day moving average was a week before Trump was elected. We spent all of 2017 with basically a handful of modest declines (Mar 1-27, June 29 and 2 days in August). To pretend that it...

I'd you only know how to trade when it's ripping higher.. then you don't really know how to trade Some bearish trash talk now enters the thread

From reading just a few of your posts, I sincerely doubt that you will judge the contents of the memo objectively.

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

My guess would be that the low volatility (10 VIX) algo's basically just walk away if there is any sign that some real selling is going on. This is a market full of liquidity vacuum's, which typically revert back into the no range algo chop, but not this past week. Someone on another forum...

sadly, futures tanking only means it gives back Friday's gains. Feels like a bunch more because of the neverending overnight churn sessions up.

I always seem to sell too early.

So many times it's the mixing of two strategies with half-hearted commitment that spells doom. For instance, someone who wants to buy stocks making 52 week lows has to have a high pain tolerance and presumably some fundamental reason for doing so. Many times these people add to these positions...

I always seem to sell too early.

Ask yourself this question: Do you get out of your small winners because you are actively watching the price action during the day? And secondly are you getting out too soon because you are reacting to something you are seeing on a smaller time frame that is causing you to act emotionally...

Poker players make the best traders?

You are the "yin" to Buy1Sell2's "yang". One guy sounds like he's heavily sedated and you sound a bit too emotional. It's nothing more than bullshitting, not to be taken so seriously.
