IB: can I close ALL my positions based on hitting a total target?

Oups, it did not read well (skipped the without), it requires programing with the API.

IB: can I close ALL my positions based on hitting a total target?

Yes you can. If you use the ExcelDDE API to open your positions and keep track (with your formulas) of the PnL then you can have a trigger that will close your positions (send orders at least, lol). I would not leave that unattended because the ExcelDDE is not completely reliable.

JFGI. But if you can't: 1-KO moves 5 cents in 10 milliseconds and PEP did not move yet. You lift PEP place a limit 2 cents higher and expect to get lifted. Refered to as correlation trading. 2-You have a low priced stock that make a lot of volume in one day but is not volatile (C before...

And just for fun... dont forget that you always have a stop in the market... the margin call. Your broker will not allow new positions if you don't have enough margin. So if 10 stocks is all that you can buy with your margin then the party will stop there. But not enough margin will not allow...

Saico, yes it is possible. I used to do it manually by having the spacebar of my keyboard as a hotkey for the "Cancell All Orders" function of TWS. So I would hit it manually if I felt something was wrong and stop the bleeding. If you want to program it in VBA it is possible but you have to...

Is this with daily bars? If so, how do you deal with stops being hit or not intrabar (high, low)? You close stop at the stop price or the close of the bar? Are stops fixed at the start or trailing? Are you sure you are not using the current bar as info to trade on it? I have...

Why not looking at another 4 years in the past. Or how about backtesting on another instrument/market? And was your strategy fine tuned on all the backtest data or you had some out of sample years?
