    Calculating Index Value

Scribe, WWW.ETFCONNECT.COM lists the closing information of most of the ETFs like QQQ SPY etc. They will usually trade about 1/2 % over or below net asset value of the index. Also WWW.ISHARES.COM does a daily NAV calculation of the value of their portfolios.

PAY FOR PERFORMANCE! All of the sudden to be a CEO or upper management you had to have the company you WORK FOR make you a millionaire via options. This is fine as long as your owners are getting rich as well. But when the owners start to lose equity value and these cheese d*#K$ just dump...

Biggest Joke On Wall St. Award:

Thanks for the update on Roberts, good call about not posting the link. I have purchased plenty of books from the likes of Wade Cook and Robert Allen and Robert Kyioski over the years. I would think these guys would drift away, but the money must be very good. There was a similar CSCO...

Biggest Joke On Wall St. Award:

What ever became of Ken Roberts? I used to get a booklet from him once a month on his futures trading system. The last I saw was an article in Kiplingers or Money that was a SERIOUS interview. Bueller Bueller Anyone?

How often does day trader (in US) pay taxes?

Vinigar, Actually I had passed over that, so I glad you posted the link. When going back through it seemed like there were about six months of threads with most of the focus on a core of questions. It may be interesting to compare this to the greentrader book. On their site they were...

    recommended programming books

Xtrader, This may not be exactly what you are looking for, but "Smarter Trading" by Perry Kaufman had a blend of programming ideas mixed with trading ideas. I theory on system development and trading ideas were very good, but I really breezed over the programming stuff. It seemed to me like...

covered combination question for option pros

I don't consider myself the be all end all of trading edges, but I do have a few thoughts on why I would rather sell puts and hold cash than holding stocks outright. When I started trading I was working full time, and I used to write covered calls as a way to generate extra returns without...

Almost forgot about Tom Vu, he had the best commercials. Below from www.johntreed.com one of the best sites on what ever happened to the no money down crowd. Tom Vu---I do not recommend Claimed to be a Vietnamese boat person. Surrounded himself with bikini-clad babes in TV infomercial. I...

Biggest Joke On Wall St. Award:

How about my buddy does business with a failing telecom company whose CEO sold 500 Mill in stock while leaving this guy's business with 50K in unpaid accounts receivable that are now protected by Chapter 11. Im beginning to think that being a good guy is not the way to do it.

How often does day trader (in US) pay taxes?

If I keep tossing and turning the way I am tonight I may I have it done by Tuesday. It will always be a mystery to my why I can drink a pot of coffee in the morning and be napping by 11, but three little sips after dinner and I'm up all night.

covered combination question for option pros

If these puts are out of the money, IMHO, this is incredible. How many puts have you written in the las two years? How far out of the money are they percentage wise from the stock? Too many would about sum it up. Last year in terms of both put and call premium I wrote about $30,000 in total...

covered combination question for option pros

There is no question at all that individual issues have greater volatility and a higher premium for dollar at risk than a basket of stocks like QQQ. It has been my personal experience over the past two years that I have ended up owning almost everything I have written puts on, so I have made a...

How often does day trader (in US) pay taxes?

That sounds good to me. Foreign taxes are hard to find information about, but everything else would make for a good project from where I sit. It may be possible to scour some of the old forums to see what type of questions people have asked and what sort of links were posted.

How often does day trader (in US) pay taxes?

I am willing to contribute anything that I can to help others as I think this is part of what the community is about. What I see though is in the THREAD form questions and answers get buried. Personally, I am sure I have answered similar questions multiple times. If it were set up as a page...

covered combination question for option pros

Since this is a mildly bullish play, why not just sell the puts and be done with it. If you sold 2000 puts you would collect $2200 in premium with $15000 at risk. I am leery of using 50% margin to calculate returns, but this is a 14% return with a similar risk profile. And if ORCL stays above...

How often does day trader (in US) pay taxes?

Ok, I finished the test return for our friend Trader Joe on Kiplinger's Tax Cut. I used 80,000 as the short term income on 4797, 10,000 of Schedule C business expenses and 2000 in Health insurance premiums. I did look at an older version of Microsoft Money 99, there was what looked like an...

    Tax deduction on loans?

Topgun, I see no problem with deducting the interest on credit cards for business expenses. However, I would suggest that if you use the card that you only use it for business. Consider perhaps using a transfer check to open a new card for "business balance." The reason I say this is...

    Ib Hot Keys

MBG, that is a good idea on the close position. Can you tell me though if the price will automatically post to the bid? I have keys set up for price up and down which is really ok for me. However, I often look at interday scalping and think this would be much faster. For instance, I have...
