How do you manage estate tax risk as non-US trader?

May not work in many cases. Get killed in accident. Or suddenly die in heart attack without warning. Nobody can know in advance when he is going to die. Maybe cancer patients who have been forewarned by doctor but in many cases, we won't know.

Is cash in IBKR Singapore account subjected to U.S estate tax?

Because IBKR is a US broker and is subjected to U.S law. If your IRAS says tax foreigners' estate, then US companies have to follow the law. This doesn't affect only IBKR but ALL U.S brokerages. This is something that foreigners need to be aware.

Is cash in IBKR Singapore account subjected to U.S estate tax?

No. Singaporean. For U.S citizens, I'm sure they have to pay estate tax regardless of whatever account wherever they are unless they quit U.S which many are unwilling to do. It's a great country.

The Spectacular Rise Of SPACs: The Backwards IPO That's Taking Over Wall Street

What is the social value of SPAC? They aren't real businesses providing real products/services and real jobs to people. Isn't it inefficient allocation of money to put $$ into SPACs? Did I miss out anything about their social value? They look socially useless to me. Another toy for fund managers...

Michael Platt's BlueCrest kept best team for own fund while clients got inferior ones

This Michael Platt lacks integrity. It's ok to act on your self-interest but not ok if you take other people's money and act on your self-interest at the interest of your clients'. This smacks of poor integrity. I think the professionals in this forum will agree...

Hedge funds keep two-thirds of profits

It is a shameless way to make money. Nobody respects a person who gets rich at the expense of his customers. Hedge fund managers as a group seem to have succeeded in doing just that.

Underperforming hedge funds getting rich off of fees

Good to know you have no connection to hedge funds. This makes it easier to discuss hedge funds. Again, please do not be presumptious to assume that I clearly don't know about MPT. You don't know me. Why keep assuming you're "better" than other people whom you don't know? Would you like it if I...

Underperforming hedge funds getting rich off of fees

You don't know me. It is presumptious of you to assume I'm not rich. Tell me, how would you know that I'm not rich? For all you know, I could be much richer than you but I wouldn't be presumptious to assume that. Anyway, my wealth is irrelevant. What is relevant is who made more money? The index...

Underperforming hedge funds getting rich off of fees

In this context, the loser chumps are the hedge fund sucker clients and the winners are retail index ETF investors. They bought cheaper and much better products.

Underperforming hedge funds getting rich off of fees

Is "not being as concerned about absolute returns" a good enough reason to pay ridiculous high fees that enrich undeserving hedge fund managers at one's own expense? It sounds like an excuse used by hedge fund salesmen to justify their high fees. It is absolutely reasonable to judge a hedge...

Underperforming hedge funds getting rich off of fees

In the past, hedge funds can be marketed as being exclusively for rich, successful people. Rich people bought it for the snob appeal. Today, with hedge funds' consistent, persistent underperformance compared to index ETFs which are accessible to all poor retail investors, hedge funds are seen...

John Paulson’s hedge fund lays off workers

The hedge fund industry is full of ultra-rich people who got there despite destroying massive value to their clients. I do not understand why this industry counts so many suckers among the customers, given that ALL the customers are rich and should be smart. If they're suckers, how did they...
