    Chicken hawks for president

Yep, +1 or more. Paul was being shouted down when he had good points against Santorum. c

Is it the "price of gas, stupid"?

http://gasbuddy.com/GB_Price_List.aspx Nice list, highest by city is S.F. and Santa Barbara CA. Highest shows $4.17. Must be higher in some 'special' cities. Listed by State and by city. c

Record Throughput at Port of New York

It does seem that those who lean far right tend to be more of the pessimistic group here. In my lifetime I have seen a lot in America, some good, some bad, some inexplicable. I supported W Bush, except for the wars, pretty much. Even though I did not vote for him. Same with Clinton, no vote...

Obama Stimulus Turns Three: What Has It Achieved?

From previous post: I responded with: A new report by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates that 1.4 million to 3.6 million people currently employed owe their jobs to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, better known as the stimulus plan. Can’t say much about words...

Half of the Population of the US pay no income taxes

Christie, on Piers Morgan. I want to give tax credits even to those who don't pay any taxes. So I guess he's a socialist? c

Chris Christie is beating the **** out of Piers Morgan

Christie says he likes giving tax credits to those who don't pay any income taxes. I addressed this in another thread, and was told that this is 'welfare' - so, if I wanted to be a putz about, Christie is for welfare all around. 10% cut to everyone, and if you don't pay taxes, you still get...

Obama Stimulus Turns Three: What Has It Achieved?

Right, and I just heard today on "Imus in the Morning" - a woman named Gerri Willis, a economic analyst, so to speak. She was asked about unemployment at 8.x percent. She said "well, when Bush took over, unemployment was at 4.x% - as if Bush had anything to do with what Clinton left him...

    Jeb Bush?

Valid points, for sure. I think an alignment with 'dad' is ok, but having to separate from W would almost have to be done, to be effective as a candidate. The anybody but Romney crowd is not happy with Santorum. They know he can't possibly beat Obama. I still think Jeb has a chance, we'll...

    Jeb Bush?

MSNBC, yes that one, is touting Jeb as a possible GOP candidate. I have spoken on this a few times, only to be shouted down so to speak. Why not Jeb? Smarter brother, middle of the road enough to make Dem's not cringe, yet right enough to have a solid base. I know, the legacy thing is...

Half of the Population of the US pay no income taxes

When you're taking 'sides' then the facts are irrelevant. The world of hate just takes over, and all the things I noted above come into play. Stupid arguments. c

Half of the Population of the US pay no income taxes

This great psychological experiment here on P&R is really showing through. You guys even predict the times when there is no argument, that ad hominem, or shoot the messenger, all the classic signs of simple frustration from being wrong, type retorts take place. Sorry for the poor sentence...

POLL: The biggest threat to the world

I can understand political differences, even to the extent that some act like kids here on P&R. I can even understand, to a point, the concern about the world condition. I can't understand the wild paranoia involved with Mr. hero here. And, even some of you guys who are so scared of what...

Half of the Population of the US pay no income taxes

Yep, and extending the payroll tax reduction 'without paying for it' as Mr. Boehner put is not helping the matter one bit. Need more money? print it. Need higher deficit limits? Raise them. Great ideas people, just great. This should not be a R and D type culture war or anything of the kind...

Half of the Population of the US pay no income taxes

Just to add that since SS, FICA is capped at about $110,000. So anyone making more than that is basically not paying a 'share' into the SS lock box. Another exemption I guess. I don't mind it, as they say, 'it's the law." Raise that to $300,000 or so we have more revenue to avert the SS crisis...

Obama Stimulus Turns Three: What Has It Achieved?

I actually agree that he should, and likely will, use the money for infrastructure. Yes, including the Keystone pipeline. I would rather see workfare not unemployment. c

Obama Stimulus Turns Three: What Has It Achieved?

He said: At the time, Obama claimed that it would "create or save" up to 3.5 million jobs, and that "a new wave of innovation, activity and construction will be unleashed across America." The stimulus, would, he promised ""ignite spending by businesses and consumers" and bring "real and lasting...

Half of the Population of the US pay no income taxes

Or it's keeping them off welfare. If a guy who makes $50,000 is saving $10,000 in taxes via children as deductions, is that welfare too? At $30,000, still saving $10K. At $9,000 then what? These are credits given has nothing to do with tax paid or tax brackets. I guess everyone who takes a...
