    Iterative Refinement

You didn't waste my time at all, Ivo. I've learned quite a bit today thanks to your question (and others). I'm now thinking (but not entirely sure) that part of my problem with the 1325 bar context was that I missed the increasing red volume during a retrace right after the FTT of the up...

    Iterative Refinement

In my continuing effort to make as many mistakes as possible (hopefully to get something right one day), the 1540 bar is increasing volume, decreasing volatility. It's an ftt. The ym at 1542 confirms it with a formation fbo and it's own ftt. The ES 1545 goes increasing black.

Ok, thanks. I'm using IQFeed. Must be a glitch. Please ignore my last post on context. ugh!

I understand. Could you tell me your volume for the 1325 and 1330 bars (bar closes)? I have 32,166 for 1325, and 10,623 for 1330. Yours looks different. Thanks.

Thanks, Romanus and R/R. I can see both of your perspectives clearly and they align nicely. These little situations (BO without more increasing volume) get me all the time because the context recognition skills are still under construction. Maybe we can try another one? The 1325 bar...

    Iterative Refinement

This is a very good question. Something I struggle with. :D An example of one bar change and price moving from pt2 to pt 3 in a formation? Since next bar is pennant then forming lateral we look to YM and see return to incr. black at 12:22?

Thank you, dkm. :D thanks also for the perceived points of change.

Must admit I'm still struggling with this comment, dkm. Would you mind saying a little more about lateral movement after the pt3 is formed?

Agreed. Big aha's today. I really appreciated the input and the questions, Spyder, as well as the patience. Thank you, and thanks to all the contributors.

If not the bar Romanus mentioned then I think the 1410 bar. That one would've been tricky. But volume levels before, during and after that bar along with the YM, and channel steepness all provide info. If I had to choose one tool it would be YM.

:D I can see it now. Thank you. And thanks, Romanus. :D

Volume behaved similarly and differently to other lateral movement areas I've witnessed depending on the context. In this specific example, the lateral movement area displayed both increasing black and increasing red volume. I thought that was interesting.

11:50 bar: without a VE (although 11:35 could be a flaw), price creates an IBGS and closes inside the range of the previous bar on decreasing volume. Price has failed to reach the LTL of the channel after a peaking volume bar and, based on the close, suggesting an ftt is potentially on the...

    Iterative Refinement

Just to clarify, do you mean over the entire period or the last few bars?

    Iterative Refinement

Far as I can tell we've been in lateral movement since 11:45 am (bar close). That may soon change.

Hi Grav, based on this post http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=1915090&highlight=WMCN#post1915090 "When we have increasing volume while in a pennant, we anticipate price should BO of the pennant in the direction of the increasing volume. This is WMCN." So, based on...

Ok, I understand now, lol. I was definitely misreading your posts. That's what happens when you're sleep deprived. My apologies, and thank you very much for responding. And yes, resolution is key and something I'm working on as well. Your ramblings (j/k) do help. :D

Thanks, Romanus. For 2b, and 2c, is the assumption that price is within the shadow of a previous bar? If not, I thought that "(b) price going higher on decreased black volume in up channel, (c) price going lower on decreased red volume in a down channel" both signal change. Thanks.

    Iterative Refinement

Understandable. I didn't quite comprehend that, either.
