I'm in the tampa bay area. seriously consider NOT daytrading at all, look into swing trading and position trading. You can make just as much money and still hold down a job for security and to preserve your trading capital. Who wants to spend their trading capital on the rent ? Not me.

go with that machine, but tell them to bump the memory up to at least 512. You can definitely hit 256 meg usage on XP, so you are better off having some extra memory to keep your performance high. If you have enough memory, that machine will last you for several years without modification.

I don't want people to call me a gambler, but if someone does I just have to shrug it off, because its all a matter of perspective. If my perspective is that I am making more money than that person and enjoying what I do, then I certainly don't care. If I am having a bad month then it stings...

the problem is, daytrading is much more entertaining, even thrilling. You get a gambling rush from daytrading that you won't get with any other kind of trading.

when it comes to the stock market in particular ( exluding all other markets including stock index derivatives ), daytrading is never the optimal strategy for an individual. Even during the late 90's, those daytraders making a bundle would have made much more by being swing or position traders.

as far as bubbles go, actually our entire economy is a bubble, because it is based on fiat money.

after the 1929 crash there was a very large rally and people thought the bull was back, then it went down to new lows.

well how low do you think it will drop ? I am starting to get nervous about this rally. Typically that means its not over yet, but is entering the blow off phase.

after a certain point rate cuts do nothing. If you consider inflation, we are at near zero real interest rates right now.

In regards to the stock market, Swing trading and position trading are DEFINITELY the way to go.

you need a T-1 because of the service level agreements that you get, its not just about bandwidth.

trailing stops are wonderfull things. relax and have a drink.

I just checked out a forex firm and they said the guaranteed spreads in FOREX are less than the spreads in futures markets. A futures spread typically is equivalent to 7 pips.

If scalping is alive anywhere its probably in the FOREX.

i'm looking into it as well. I think there is the possibility of going the "prop" route in that field, since their are no markups or commissions per se, so it can't be all just about churning.

I'm looking into these guys. They sell training and of course trading without commissions ( they get a piece of the spread ). their traders work in their offices and are subject to the firms risk management teams final judgement. anybody heard of them ?

actually the run in TRAD and small/thin stocks shows that the small speculator is back in the markets in a big way. This is one of the few contrarian indicators that I think work.
