If you were to build an addon for a charting package, which would you start with?

I am working on developing some innovative technology that would work as an add-on to a charting app. I am using it mainly for my own trading purposes but I see this as an opportunity to possibly sell it at a later date (moderators, I'm not advertising a product here, I'm asking some...

DE Shaw, a good place to work?

I work for an outfit that manages nearly the same amount, and sure it's a large amount, but for some reason I was expecting a bigger number for DES, probably because they are so universally known as a name, but I've never really understood what they do. I was imagining a much bigger number...

DE Shaw, a good place to work?

Interesting. Seems their site says they have ~35B in management, that is not exactly a huge amount for a company with offices in like 15 places. Anyone know how they are fairing in today's markets?

DE Shaw, a good place to work?

Seems I can get in there for an interview, as a technologists (high performance trading systems, 70% tech, 30% finance), not as a quant (would not want to be a full time quant). Thing is that quant funds are sucking it lately. How about DE? Worth going through what I imagine to be a really...

Anyone heard of ATDesk in South Carolina?

So they are in the market making business? That was not obvious from looking on their website, unless I am crazy. So I guess they are as solid as Citi, LOL.

Are there any hedge funds in Texas?

Yeah I saw that link, it doesn't really give a full list or even partial list. Seems there are a lot of funds there. We're not sure how to approach them for jobs. Does anyone know any recruiters in the Texas area? He's willing to go to Houston, but prefers Austin or Dallas. If anyone...

Are there any hedge funds in Texas?

A friend of mine is looking to move to Texas. He currently works at a hedge fund, and would like to remain in finance. I have heard there are a fair number of hedge funds in Texas, but we're having trouble finding them. Does anyone know of a list of hedge funds?

What was the cause of the sudden drop in the EUR around 1pm today?

That story has been hanging out there all day. Is that really what caused a 2 minute spike followed by a correction? Just doesn't seem likely.

What was the cause of the sudden drop in the EUR around 1pm today?

Was it news related or just a normal bit of volatility in the market?

Is there a platform that has built in debugging? For the love of G-d???

Can it handle tick backtesting? Anything in a script language will probably suffer for tick based backtesting.

Is there a platform that has built in debugging? For the love of G-d???

I tried it but the TWS+BrokerServer could not find my running instance of TWS on the default port. Same problem, what is going on?!? This is just whack, because every other app finds it, Ninja, MultiChart, BracketTrader. But now OQ and TL can't see it?

What is the most liquid FX index future?

Unfortunately RightEdge doesn't yet support backtesting of tick data. Smallest resolution is one minute.

Is there a platform that has built in debugging? For the love of G-d???

The problem with RightEdge is that they don't support tick data backtesting. The new version is supposedly going to have it, and that's supposed to be out this month. But who knows if it will be out, they're late already. Also their forums are slow and while they are more responsive than OQ...

Is there a platform that has built in debugging? For the love of G-d???

I think my problem is simply that OQ is erroring whenever I try to connect to TWS. I am doing what one would do, its set to connect on 127.0.0.1, usual TWS port, with a unique client id (nothing else is connecting anyway). It just errors out instantly. In their video they right click and do...

Is there a platform that has built in debugging? For the love of G-d???

You mean they are not looking to sell the software but be hired by traders to write the strategies for them? Or be hired to help people like me make their software work? Not sure which kind of consultant you mean. I would be more inclined to hire them for anything if I could get the simplest...

Is there a platform that has built in debugging? For the love of G-d???

I didn't see any videos like that but I will take a look. If you know a link please let me know. Thanks for the tip. I agree, their support forum borders on hostile to anyone who is not on their level of knowledge. It's quite odd.

What is the most liquid FX index future?

My problem with rightedge is that it doesn't support tick data yet. I like the range of products that open ecry gives you. Do they charge extra for algorithmic trading? How does their data feed compare to say IB or zenfire? THX

What is the most liquid FX index future?

Do you do your algo trading with Velocity or Open E-Cry? I am using IB now but frankly I am sick of trying to get my software to connect through TWS. What platform do you use btw for algo? Or is it custom/rolled in house?

Is there a platform that has built in debugging? For the love of G-d???

Well thanks for the feedback, I don't want to get into a debate here, but there are easy ways to enable debugging of a script or of the user's strategy code without enabling debugging of the pieces of the platform (the host) that a) the user has no source to and b) are of no interest to the...
