You nailed it: if someone needs discipline from an external source (like a manager at a prop firm), TopStep Trader is a valid option. It is not, however, any different from a $5-10K stand-alone futures account aside from the fact that you can't cheat on their rules. The negativity comes mostly...

    Canadian Prop Firms (Remote Trading)

Quick note: these guys aren't Canadian, they're in the Caribbean, so we're straying off-topic here. (Although there isn't as much activity as I hoped in this thread.) Wow, they're in business? I remember dismissing them outright last year based on their web site (or lack thereof). ;) I'll...

    Canadian Prop Firms (Remote Trading)

I know of a few floors but not many offer remote. Bright's long gone I believe. WTS (the non-US version) is still around. Often recommended is still JC Trading Group. It'll be interesting to see if someone comes up with anything more.

    Resumption of Daytrading

Aren't there always people "warning of the coming big bear market", all the way up through (and missing most of) the preceding bull market? o_O I can't blame someone for not listening. Coffee's for closers™ (Sorry I couldn't resist. :) )

Exactly. Unfortunately while the $150K combine allows up to 20 lots ($7.5K capital per lot, which is fair), you're down to 3 lots when you're funded, and need to accumulate profits to unlock a larger size, just like when you're on your own. So apples-to-apples for a $400/month entry fee and...

None of these numbers are meaningful to your or my trading, because they're only indicative of the success of those traders' systems. Success comes from trading, regardless of being executed at TST, IB, AMP, or any other cool acronym. :) I believe that's incorrect, however. Don't you remain...

    From $5k to $50k

If this was a legitimate endeavor, just ignore the few assholes (who will then vanish) and do as you intended. Some of us are well-mannered. :p It looks like you've already left, but thought I should say it anyway. For some people, $300/day is already an upgrade, and this is on a single lot...

The Tao of Minimalistic Trading: $300 Daily Profit

Isn't the spread so wide as to make day trading options impractical?

    Why journal?

Maybe confirmation. It's nice to see others' flaws, loser post-mortems and general comments. When we play all alone in our little sandbox, it's easy sometimes to start thinking we're an extra-terrestrial with unique problems. It's reassuring to see the same mistakes in others, and how they're...

    Technical Analysis vs. Fundamental?

There's a big difference between 10 and 1000: screen time. You can save time by finding someone else's system that works well for your own style, but you still need plenty of screen time with your markets to become familiar with them. Intuition comes from experience. Now, 10 years and still...

    Technical Analysis vs. Fundamental?

Sorry. :) I tend to visit ET only about twice per week these days so I'm often a few days late to the party.

The Dangers That May Await Us in Trading

Similar to mine. I remember "revenge trading" myself into dumping over 10% of my account one single August day chasing SINA. Back in 2003 anyway, that beast was doing the weirdest, craziest moves intraday and I guess I hadn't thought of just looking for easier pastures, the intraday range was...

New Panic Button Closes All Positions Immediately!

That reminds me of my crazy day trading year in 2003, when I executed all my trades in "SpeedTrader IQ" with a Logitech Wingman joystick. The big top-left corner button was the "cancel all orders and dump all open positions at market" button: Fun times... Don't be surprised to hear I went...

    Technical Analysis vs. Fundamental?

(Emphasis mine.) In addition to sounding like a technical analysis bash thread, I'm sorry but how has nobody else picked up on this part? After 10 trades, it seems useless. How about doing 1000 (for free using historical data replays) first? There isn't much to learn from ten trades.

The biggest news EVER to hit EliteTrader

The rules are very clear yes, however when all is said and done, someone with enough self-discipline has limited use for them because of their highly restrictive live scaling plan, which restricts their effective funding down to a low-drawdown 1-3 lot stand-alone account. Now if live trading...

The biggest news EVER to hit EliteTrader

To add to @Baron's response, live traders are also demoted back to simulated combines if they dip back below $0 balance. This greatly limits their risk for loss.

    Offering auto-trading long-only options system "sys13"

...and on this point I forgot to add: I'd refrain from ad hominem attacks, if I was in your position. Calling one critic "stupid", telling another he "should read more carefully", those are very abrasive responses. You're a seller right now, marketing your system, and thus you should be...

    Offering auto-trading long-only options system "sys13"

Out of curiosity, which country are you from? Regardless, now things are getting clearer: so something around $100/month for data is outside of your reach right now. I can respect that. That obviously also rules out $15-20K for backtesting data. (Options are incredibly expensive! I had no...
