[Buying a NEW laptop] May I use Linux for trading?

I did and intend to do so again. You just have to make sure to use Oracle's Java VM and not the open-source variant (i.e. the one that would come with Debian). Version after version, sadly I had display issues (login window outside of the monitor, 4000 pixels tall) and crippling memory leaks...

I won't be popular around this forum for saying so, but he contributes two things in the retail investment space which I think are worthwhile, regardless of implementation details: he motivates people to take control of their own money (be it in how to select decent index funds) and he...

Not doing at all the same type of hours. Apples to oranges. I was a software engineer, and the only work I truly enjoyed and wasn't near-breakdown stressed was open source (not sponsored, sadly). It'd be neat to do something I enjoy just as much, for similar reasons, and also having a shot at...

Holy hell is this thread ever derailing. Any chance you'll set up your own thread in Journals when you start your next combine, to get away from all this noise?

500%+ in one year on autopilot - call for beta testers!

Market-maker a.k.a. bucket shop firms typically have an "A-book" and a "B-book". Clients arrive by default on the "B-book" which means that the firm takes the other side of trades, or in other words, they tell clients that orders "executed" but they did nothing on their end, just took note of...

500%+ in one year on autopilot - call for beta testers!

Am I correct in assuming that this is a Windows-only setup?

What's a mulligan? Do you mean the resets? The average participant takes the $30K combine which is $150. The reset fee is barely cheaper than starting a new one fresh, for those people. Also, notice that a reset doesn't move the monthly billing date, so at best this is a gimmick to allow...

Can the tiny house movement end homelessness?

That's exactly what I'm saying: that supply of thorium would last 1000 years at our current rate of consumption, which would quickly adapt to the much cheaper and abundant supply, making it false. Yeah, I'm not going to be creating 10 full-time jobs anytime soon.

Because you're there to get the discipline from their take on what's necessary for success. Otherwise, you'd have opened a small account at AMP on your own. :)

Can the tiny house movement end homelessness?

Now all I need is an immigrant visa (the current political climate must make this pretty easy, huh...) and a huge renovation budget that'll nullify the apparent savings. ;)

Can the tiny house movement end homelessness?

Clickbait title: there's no mention of said car in the entire video, the thumbnail isn't even from the video itself. I also chuckled at "we will never run out" (of thorium). :) Because of course, once we get a dramatically lower cost for energy, we'll find ways to skyrocket our consumption...

Can the tiny house movement end homelessness?

I assume you're missing at least one zero in there.

Can the tiny house movement end homelessness?

I'm not sure about that. A tiny home isn't that much different from a "mobile" home, which afterall doesn't exceed 600 square feet. As long as the city can collect taxes on the property, the higher density should make up for the lower individual value.

Wrong screenshot, possibly? The combine image just shows March 7th and 8th.

Can the tiny house movement end homelessness?

Misleading headline: for $7K you get a trailer frame, partial sub-floor and plans including a list of materials to purchase to build it yourself. It's more of a $30-50K project, even DIY.

That's fine, but it doesn't cost much at all to find that out for oneself: simulation is much cheaper stand-alone (about $25/month for futures/stocks, free for Forex) and reveals everything. Of course I'm talking about people going in with a proper plan. ;) The others just add noise which would...

I agree that clearer communication from TST would help. I strongly disagree with your point, however: other people's results have no correlation whatsoever with your own. None. You should know what your trading plan's worth (per lot) before you start spending money on combines, anyway, or...

It'll be very interesting to see their take on this. I know that they "frown upon" a big day followed by a tick per day for the other 9 days, because it doesn't show the trader's true performance, but given that the pre-funded simulator is now mandatory for everyone I'm not too sure what this...

What are the downsides of CFDS?

CFDs aren't necessarily bad but there are a few caveats to keep in mind when considering them: A contract for difference doesn't yield the interests or dividends that you'd get holding the underlying instrument. Most CFD brokers will charge interest for the value of the underlying virtual...

Wow. I'm set up with VNC here as well "just in case" but I don't think I'd ever execute trades on such a tiny screen. Your workflow must be quite streamlined. Where could I get a copy of this? I exchanged a few messages with them in the past but still never get this monthly newsletter.
