is trading oil just trading the dollar

All dollar based commodities are influenced by the US dollar, this should be intuitive to the trader. There are a whole host of other reasons why the oil price moves, of course it is not just because of the dolllar. Trading commodities though you absolutely need to be aware of what the dollar is...

Platforms with ZERO charge (or very low charge) that allow you to trade exchange spreads

amen to that. An FCM that makes 50c in commission on 1000 round trips = $1000 is not going to waive $500 in platform costs. aint happening. Maybe at 5000 round trips.

Platforms with ZERO charge (or very low charge) that allow you to trade exchange spreads

I attach advantages commission scale below. If you do 1001+ contracts per month commission is 49c per side. DDT will do 45c commission per side for 1000+ contracts per month and as you say they have firetip basic for free or firetip pro for $49pm, its a great deal.

Platforms with ZERO charge (or very low charge) that allow you to trade exchange spreads

I think he is doing it to add to the mystique that he is the all consuming authority on spreads and must be paid for instruction on such. The facts are if you are trading simple exchange traded spreads the margins are there on the exchange websites in black and white. All it takes is a simple...

Platforms with ZERO charge (or very low charge) that allow you to trade exchange spreads

I agree and in any good business costs must be minimised. I laugh at people who say you must buy the rolls royce platform for ints functionality to retail traders who have $5k, $10k, $25k. The whole trading industry is built to suck out dumb money. When you add up platform cost, data, clearing...

Platforms with ZERO charge (or very low charge) that allow you to trade exchange spreads

I dont think this is correct ryker. but stand to be corrected I dont use a platform which has a per side cost to it so I am not 100% certain. With all the brokers and clearers I have worked with you are billed for clearing/nfa/commissions as per individual legs even if you execute on exchange...

Platforms with ZERO charge (or very low charge) that allow you to trade exchange spreads

I have been over this but again CQG Trader would be $395pm = $4740pa in addition some brokers charge for 'spread routes' on CQG Trader. CTS would come in at $500pm = $6k pa. This is a lot of money to pay over 1 year considering I can transact the same trades through a free platform like TWS...

why the low blows? Professional Traders do not sell trading courses.

Platforms with ZERO charge (or very low charge) that allow you to trade exchange spreads

I already have an account with interactive brokers so have been using the free TWS platform, it's clunky but it works ok. The purpose of the thread was to see if anyone had any alternatives. Most people answered sensibly but you turned it into a 'free platforms are rubbish' thread and threw in...

Platforms with ZERO charge (or very low charge) that allow you to trade exchange spreads

I am aware of the various exchange membership programs. My OP didn't imply I am trading Crude Oil Calendar Spreads, didnt mention that in the OP. I am trading some CL spreads its a mix of ICE, CME & Eurex spreads. A Nymex seat lease would save me $1.50 per round trip my nymex only volume does...

Platforms with ZERO charge (or very low charge) that allow you to trade exchange spreads

No you are wrong Bone. The majority of the guys trading ICE contracts in the UK are using XTrader. Don't deflect by saying I was asking for free, you were wrong and got called out.

Platforms with ZERO charge (or very low charge) that allow you to trade exchange spreads

You are telling me nothing I don't already know. Trust me if I complete 1000 round trips with Advantage they will not be picking up my $500pm CTS bill. I have met their rep here in the UK at that volume it's not happening. hence its $6k wasted for me when I could use a free platform.

Platforms with ZERO charge (or very low charge) that allow you to trade exchange spreads

well quite patrick. Our community is quite small and I talk to a lot of guys at other firms all the time. xtrader pro is the default with a few using CQG IC. It's just another case of Bone playing fast and loose with the facts.

Platforms with ZERO charge (or very low charge) that allow you to trade exchange spreads

not sure what you are banging on about here. I have in the past had accounts at multiple future brokers and several prop firms. 1000 contracts is nothing to Advantage. Here is Advantages sliding commission scheduled below. The facts are if I do 1000 contracts per month with Advantage using CTS...
