EU attacks Darling deficit plan : not ambitious enough

I'm looking forward to a crash in the UK similar to Iceland. I left the UK last summer and may come back when the dust settles, but not before the next five years. I am hoping for a hung parliament or even a Brown victory just to accelerate the crash. That should be quite funny to watch...

    Long term euro

the euro is way overvalued versus the dollar, just compare what you get on amazon.com in the US and what you get on Amazon.fr in France and you will see that everything cost 35% to 50% more in Europe. This is not sustainable over the long term. Add to this that Europe is absolutely not...

Spain and Portugal financial crisis puts Europe on brink

indeed, European real estate markets have not corrected as they should have based on the current crisis. As Martinghoul mentions, it is due to the fact that the ECB has thrown a lifeline to banks for them not to offload their RE. In the case of Spain, it is ridiculous. Just check property...

Britain Worst place to live in Europe.

another example of British interference in sovereign matters... the UK has forgotten it is not a colonial empire anymore. It is politically dead. Economically, it now ranks behind Italy. Deflate it for what it's worth and it ranks with the likes of Portugal. When I say deflate it, I mean...

Spanish Banks Start to Unload Property Portfolios

indeed, that would be a minimum. Best to wait, with Greece, Portugal and Spain dragging down Europe, there should be some bargains at some stage. I will need to assess the political situation first. What's the point of buying something you won't be able to enjoy... Looking for extreme...

Spanish Banks Start to Unload Property Portfolios

checked the other day some properties near the sea around Barcelona, prices are still unbelievably high. Combine this with the fact that prices are expressed in an overvalued euro and very few people have the means to afford these properties.

French Consumer Spending Drops on Unemployment Woes

let's go burn some cars, tag some monuments, beat the shit out of some little superdwarf that goes by the name of Sarkozy, and do some maths by trying to figure out how many men and women Carla Bruni has slept with (very difficult to figure out when taking into account "les partouzes"). I...

    Short DAX at 7740

if we open, it looks like 6000 is in the cards. Who would have bet on this occurring by the end of 2009 when we were around 3600 back in March? surreal, outlandish, that's the world we live in

China's Dumping Of The Dollar Has Begun

The dollar move in 2009 was a momentum play on the back of decreasing risk aversion, effectively the opposite of 2008 when risk aversion became very high and the dollar went up. The momentum play has been fed by all kind of investors, ranging from sophisticated to less sophisticated. For...

3gig max is usually what can be addressed through a 32-bit OS, so having more than that is not that helpful.

China's Dumping Of The Dollar Has Begun

RBS wrote this? Is it the same RBS that is owned by the UK taxpayer? Come on, these guys are jokers. If anything, China has been buying dollars in the last few days and dumping Greek bonds. Don't fight the trend, go long dollar.

    CTAs crushed in December

hi guys, it looks like CTAs are being killed in December after a good November. I've heard number in excess of -10% on the back of heavy losses in Gold, Oil, Interest rates, and currencies. CTAs (medium and long term trend followers) have been running the following trends: Long gold...

UK retail sales unexpectedly drop -0,3 instead of +0,5 expectation

the current mentality among long only equity managers is: - I'm underperforming - every time the market is down with respect to the previous day, I buy on the cheap :) long only equity managers are very predicatble, that's why banks and hedgies love them

    Short DAX at 7740

looking for the gap to be filled but very cautious. The Dax has been very strong over the last 2 days and I'm not convinced by the US futures down this morning. I'd rather short if we were back in the 5920 zone and even there I would be cautious. We're entering a period with thin liquidity.
