    Martingale system during earnings.

Holding for a long period of time is ok for investors who will leave the building satisfied with 10% ROI after the end of the year. I on the other hand look for 5-10% on a monthly basis, big difference :)

    Martingale system during earnings.

Captain, That is the thing. I don't know if it works in the long run. Wish I knew. It has been profitable but then again most martingale systems are "at the beginning". I suppose a simulator would be in line. Thank you for your brother's story. Were the 3 year profits enough to...

    Martingale system during earnings.

Never traded the FOREX but I've heard great things about it. Why did you stop using Martingale, did it hit you hard in the past ? When combined with other variables, excluding luck, it is defintely one of my favorite systems.

    Martingale system during earnings.

I buy based on market expectations, atmosphere, technical analysis and fundamentals. Selling is the easy part. As soon as you are comfortable with the profit during afterhours or pre-market, depending on the time of announcement, you get out. Or you can take it to the next level and see...

    Martingale system during earnings.

10 losers in a row based on pure luck has low odds but very much possible. 10 losers in a row based on educated stock picks when in theory, earnings won't take all of your principal, is a completely different scenario. Liquidity is not a problem if you pick the right stocks with the...

    Martingale system during earnings.

We know at the roulette table it is suicidal due to house edge (0 and 00) plus table limits. However, no such limit exists in the stock market. On top of that we can make "educated" bets when choosing companies during earnings play. For example: Bet 5k on earnings. Win, sell...

    50% Annual Returns

There is still something that I can't seem to understand. If you sell/buy short/cover positions every 20 days why do you need 6 months (long term) to demonstrate the gains ? You should be able to do so in 60-80 days at most. Just a beginner trying to understand.

Alpha, Are you recommend the longs and the shorts at the same time > Seems like a hedge overdone, feel free to correct.

Alpha, So what is your plan for this project, 20 longs and 20 shorts ?

    50% Annual Returns

Well not quite what I mean. Every short position you own has gone the wrong way, but you just started so I'll cut you some slack. However, saying one must wait 6-12 months to see some real returns in a portfolio where you buy/sell cover/short positions every 20 days is absurd. If you...

    50% Annual Returns

Interesting Alpha. The longs are doing well but the shorts you just started seem to be taking a hit.

    Averaging down...

Mike, With all due respect, with your strategy, you could very well hit a trade that you will never recover from. Unless, there is something else to the strategy, like max number of averaging down or something along those lines.
