    I am done with trading.

BP, This will be my 13th year of trading and I can say what happened to you has happened to me. Not to the tune of 25k but hell I remember sending orders with my fist. That's probably 8-9 years ago.

Getting fat and the kids are driving me crazy

This has been a good thread ET has some fit traders. I sat behind TO at a CAVS game and was so impressed by his fitness I bought his book. Every day in season he starts with 10 egg whites and oat meal. I made too much mess trying to separate the whites from the yokes so I ordered these egg...

Getting fat and the kids are driving me crazy

When I started I was thinking the same as you so I put together a workout that I could live with and do in 15-20 mins in my office. I bought some heavy dumbbells and worked on compressing time(decreasing the rest between sets) rather than increasing weight on the lifts. I did this for probably 4...

Have you ever blown up your trading account?

Or maybe after the serendipitous decline of '08 they've since retired.

    multiple bollinger bands

Maybe, think of the bollinger as a rubber band as opposed to a barrier. Everything you trade is different with respect to standard deviation and volatility. You have to do your homework, some timeframes are neither here nor there, and price deviation dictates trend. Exception being oscillation.

Have you ever blown up your trading account?

    1. jedwards "process of blowing up account", you need to stop trading and step back. 2. volatility's picked up, yea. 3. $2500 bucks, you need someone to kick your ass. 4. TS and Ninja promote "pie in the sky" trading. 5. progress comes thru understanding, market structure, price...

Have you ever blown up your trading account?

The process of becoming a trader is a mental beat down, there are no quick ways. The time spent and money lost depends on how deeply engrained our belief is in traditional problem solving and our intellectual pride. It's a process of extracting poor thought patterns rather than the acquisition...

traders who have second jobs, what is it?

I've traded since '97 full time the majority of years and didn't know squat most of them and maybe I still don't. But I view life as a strategy and I've always worked and my goal has never been a desk job. I bought 90 acres in '95 ordered a bunk of lumber and built 2 horse barns. I broke and...

    Have you done 10,000 hours?

I started in '96 without a clue really what the internet would bring but had a $400 a month BMI cable data feed, Omega Supercharts and a telephone. LOL that's Tradestation before all the back testing crap and Esignal before the internet. I still find trading very challenging but what I will...

    Daytraders delight...Triple leverage ETFS

I agree bighog a trader can't crap themselves every time they take a 1 lot. What a mess that'd be eh, maybe a funny commercial though: "Is this you crapping yourself every time you take a 1 lot? Well clean yourself up and send us your money because here at A** Managed Futures we promise that...

    Usa 1776-2008

It's funny, my credit score is 796, I have never missed a payment Reaver you've done what you said you were going to do that's called good character. 30k won't fix that. I take pride in my credit score as well. As for the US I'd be in the camp that it's a destruction of wealth cycle. Lots...

    good entry small stop

At ET the better traders come out preaching price action. They're right. But that doesn't mean you can't overlay an average to get your bearings. Also if you're trading NYSE stocks the SP futures might add to your efforts. Taking stabs at single stock moves disturbs me a bit on market plays...

Looking to leave equities trading, what new markets to trade?

The toughest part about being a retail trader I think is they(we, I) all start out not knowing what the heck they're doing. Then spend years searching and trying out methods that aren't valid. Once in a while they stumble onto a valid method and may actually discard it because they don't know...

Looking to leave equities trading, what new markets to trade?

Not to disagree but you're just scraping bottom, it's normal and I figure most traders have been there including myself. On the other hand being a trader isn't about easy money and the people making good money aren't your average joe's so you're right some soul searching is in order. But none of...

Looking to leave equities trading, what new markets to trade?

hey Spy, Everyone's made good points but I'm curious why you were inclined to increase your risk. I've traded since '96 and I've said from a short while after that if your risk is so that you can't reverse your thinking it's too much. Could be position size but risk reward in my opinion is...
