I bet you for every french fry in your happy meal, I'll make more profitable scalps this week than nonprofitable ones. It's a numbers game when you have a strategy ... see. :D

    Daytrading drawbacks

"The hourly return is lower than someone working in MacDonald's." Not so ... If I consistently trade using the edge and with discipline I can buy a MacDonald's franchise. Also 100,000 pounds should be used to decrease overall risk per trade, rather than excess leveraging

VIX and TICK - how to use and for what ?

Tick values of +1000 are good for a couple of points in the S&P's in the opposite direction. In other words, get short for 2 points. Recommended on if traded on a short term basis. You can make some consistent money using that strategy if you're a daytrader only ... not looking to hold...

    Trading as a Business

In trying to develop a trading plan, take a look at Van Tharp's book called "Financial Freedom through EDT". Chapters 2 and 3 might give you some ideas. In the book you actually go through the exercise of creating a business plan for professional trading. I found it very heplful. It's a...

    Daytrading drawbacks

Trying to be a trend trader is almost impossible if you start the day flat everyday. Many people try to use the same tools that they use on a daily chart ... on a 2-minute chart. Stock index futures ( es, nq ) are too choppy for that kind of trading. If you're going to be a daytrader...

    Trading the S&P/DJIA spread

Have you considered the longer time frame with this spread? It seems you could do just as well with less transactions but with higher profits per trade. Also take a look at using bollinger bands, buy and sell as the rubber band stretches... just a thought.

    Futures commissions at prop firms

If you're risking 3% of your account per trade then there are one of two things wrong: 1. Your account is two small for whatever instrument you're trading; or 2. Your stops are too large You won't last long trading if you risk 15% in a day either. Real Pro's don't risk more...

    Dow Eminis

For extra protection take less risk by only trading 1/3 to 1/2 of what you would normally trade. Start out with 1 lots until you're comfortable with the trading activity in the dow. Lack or liquidity means more risk. Crossing over from stocks to futures can provide a shock to equity. Later

why prop firms pay people to trade?

Prop firms pay salary to traders who consistently generate commissions for the firm and while the trader himself(herself) makes just enough money to keep coming back.

any pro firm accept people over 30?

Not many pro firms accept people without a track record. If you can show some good trading history, they should take a look at you ... whatever your age ... I guess.

    Active Trader Magazine

I only read (study) articles that deal with the trading strategy that I use. If I try too many trading strategies I get  and  . By reading articles that are directly related to my trading strategy I stay focused on what works for me. Good trader profiles also.

    Prop Firms In Chicago

I am looking to move to Chicago to do some prop futures trading. Are there any prop shops that have a stable core of profitable traders. I'm tired of being one of a very few in my office that makes money. I need to be around people who are consistently profitable. Let's take this baby to...

    pro futures firms

It has been my experience that prop firms want kids just out of college so that they can teach them how trade in and out of the market 20 times a day. If you have been a trader out on your own for a few years, with your own methods of trading, they're ( the prop shops) not interested.
