Dual Wan (cable & dsl) solutions

Im suprised you never got one...but I have to wonder: if electricty goes down, doesn't your internet connection go down as well? Doesnt the cable or DSL company require power to run their networks? Or do they have backup so their networks will continue to run even when there is a blackout?

Dual Wan (cable & dsl) solutions

Dont rust anybody or anything. Probabaly a good thing. For power outages, Im going to be using a UPS. I never thought I needed it (NYC never has downtime) until another remote trader told me about his experiences. So Im gonna get one soon.

Dual Wan (cable & dsl) solutions

Others have mentioned the PC itself as a source of failure. In my 3 1/2 years of trading, I have never ever experienced my box going down....Everything else has gone down at least once, but never the box itself. My mouse went down once - but I take the blame: I threw it against the monitor.

But if one goes down, you still have to turn on the application that just went down. Not to mention, again, the investment in additional hardware and desktop space.

    Short Only Traders

In last 3 1/2 years, 90% of my profits have come from being short. I dont naturally short - I always use bullets. I think the reason why many pro(p) daytraders like the short side is because using bullets is one of very few "edges" that we still have over the retail/general public. Further...

Dual Wan (cable & dsl) solutions

One of the reasons I dont want the 2 different PCs as solution is because that will not take advantage of both broadbands during everyday use. If Im gonna pay for 2 services, I want to make sure I get everything out of it as possible...which means I want improved performance as well. Not only...

Dual Wan (cable & dsl) solutions

I am leaning towards the software solution for now... called MidPoint. I'll try it and post the results here when I'm done. It is supposed to provide service failure backup (provided you have 2 services hooked up, of course) in the background seamlessly and make the most use of both bandwidth...

    "Bullets"

Gaz...you dont think SEC and NASD already knows about this? What're you..living in the cave for last 20 years? Insitutions (and many daytrading firms) use conversions to do the exact same thing - except conversions last you until the expiration. With bullets, it only lasts till the close of...

    The worst part about trading...

Bung...I know what you mean. I have helped with designing trading software for my firm for about 2 years...I'll take notes, interveiw traders..etc etc..But when the program actually, comes out, its got nothing we wanted. You have to wonder where they are doign their programming. It takes long...

    Related stocks in a sector

Does anyone know the best website to find out related stocks of a stock? Its easy to do in Bloomberg but if I dont have one, where is the best site? It would be nice if the site allows for selecting NYSE, AMEX and NAZ....type in a stock ticker, give me the list of related stocks.

Dual Wan (cable & dsl) solutions

If you are looking for purely a back-up, then I think the best soultion is to have 2 totally different services with differnet backbones - like a cable and DSL - and then use either the Compex routers (need 2 @ about $70 each) or the MidPoint software. The Nextland seem to have lot of problem...

    Cable VS DSL

Im rather optimistic about these soultions mentioned in this thread. They all claim they can do backup work without any downttime...all in the background...seamlessly. MidpOint software even says you wont even know you were down unless you were watching their "connection meter".

    Exposing one Donald Bright

I dont understand this desk fee and paying $1000 to attend a trading seminar business with Bright trading. What is all that about? I know Wldc doesnt do this....and I would laugh at any firm that does....Why would I waste my time with a firm like that if I kow I can get deals so much better...

Kevin Haggerty's Trading With The Generals Video Course

Although....it IS true that trading - like sports - is NOT really about somebody's history. I think the axiom "Do as I say - not as I do" holds true in trading as well as in sports. Some of the best traders at my firm can't teach their methods (or maybe they dont WANT to teach) to save their...

Kevin Haggerty's Trading With The Generals Video Course

I dont know much about Kevin Haggerty's course..but I looked into another course by another writer at TradingMarkets.com.... "How to trade QQQ& SPY" by Don Miller (I think). The reason I decided not to buy it was because they guy made less than I did trading (he sent his P&L statement). Why...
