Kenneth Griffin, founder of Citadel Investment, bashes his hedge fund industry peers

E-Trade was about preserving/boosting option/equity order-flow. Prices paid on the credit book was not ugly as everyone suggests. Lastly, BlackRock participated in the capital raising as well. Keep the good times rollin! :D

Kenneth Griffin, founder of Citadel Investment, bashes his hedge fund industry peers

Ken is as stoic as they say. Ann is a gem, but perhaps a bit restless. Both have occupied minds you might say, but what do you expect in this business and those kind of chips? Ken has lawyers and he likes to use them...everything is negotiable. :D

Nitro - You are correct that it is not appropriate to blame the derivatives themselves, the CMO is far superior to the REMIC structure. Same goes for securitization in general. The major breakdown was in origination. The ability of banks to distribute the loans and focus on fees/volume...

This is the last move for Crude --shaping up just like the wheat trade!

I know one firm's chief global strategist said it would take a "terrorist" event in the straight of hormuz to get oil over $100. Economists don't make good traders... Right now, I would encourage everyone to question the mainstream economists' position that we will skirt a recession! :D

    UBS in Deep Trouble......

"The public is not in the mood for tax cheats?" Do you mean the Treasury/IRS isn't? Paulsen is one of the biggest cheats out there by way of the tax waiver he got for joining Bush Co. .gov That exemption was rolled out just before he moved to .gov...go figure! :D

why are commodities affected by currency?

No more currency has been made, but money has been introduced via debt and sees oil as the most productive place to sit right now. When the debt goes goodbye, so does the money that was used to make oil and whatever other assets go higher. :D

Was The Top of 12:40PM or So Today's Top?

Please refrain from quoting L*ndis... He apparently missed the Fed's memo from 2002 that real estate only goes up. The issue is NOT and has NOT been liquidity...solvency is at the core of the issue. Solvency of the banks, solvency of the US, and the solvency of a critical mass of...

Landis you are going on ignore...You add nothing to ET but page views. You are right though, it's not a conspiracy. Wall Street is a liquidity pool to transfer wealth. For it to be a conspiracy it would need to be secret...right? The market is only a random walk to those on the wrong...
