The b/a seem to be widening. I had to go .15 under the mid to get filled.

Hi Heather: Who is your broker. Seems like a good fill. The new ToS functionality indicates that the SPX would have to be above 1280 to get the fill that you got.

Hmmm.... I seem to remember an age-old adage: Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice ...... EDIT: Have you tried clicking on the link. When I do, I go to the page where riskarb posted the baby in the devil suit with the black cat. I think you've had enough fun already, don't you.

Coach: If we can assume that because the ES is about 10 points higher than the SPX, then an equivalent trade on the SPX might have been the 1210/1200. Mid on that is $0.45. However, you're saying that $1.10 would be required to match your trade. If the equivalent trade assumption is...

Forgot to take the difference in ES and SPX levels into account in my previous post. That probably explains some if not most of the difference. Currently, the SPX 1210/1200 spread has a ToS midpoint at $0.45.

Just curious. Did you look at the SPX as an alternative for the 1220/1210 July put spread. Current midpoint is $0.85, but I have noticed that lately the SPX midpoint on ToS is pretty much meaningless. I can't get filled on anything lately (August) even going $0.10 below the midpoint.

Why pretend. It looks like I fell for your parody hook, line and sinker. :) But let's not focus on those of us who fell for the parody, but instead focus on yet another of your many talents. Good job, Mo :p

Finally, some insight into your trading :) Seriously, were your underlying positions all stocks, all indices or a combination? Stocks, I assume, and I assume further that you were prepared to take delivery if necessary? Also, I think Coach makes some good points. You are obviously a...

Yes, I would only consider doing naked calls. Also, the margin requirement for naked ES options would be substantially less than SPX (SPX isn't even a consideration because the margin ,is so high); but I'm not sure how much. Let's see, I remember Mo providing a post on calculating margin for...

For what it's worth: it looks like if naked call options are sold on S&P futures, a similar credit to an SPX bear call credit spread can be received 15 to 20 points further out on the short strike. So A's credit of $0.85 could be gotten (maybe) on a July 1325 ES option sold naked (I'm looking...

Hey, Ryan. Good to hear from you. I thought maybe you'd gone over totally to the CTM side, but see that you were just on vacation. Yeah, the discussions over the last couple of weeks have been really good with a lot of interesting information. I'm even opening an account with IB to...

I'm printing out chapters 1 thru 6 of Cottle's Coulda Woulda Shoulda; the free download. Didn't I hear somewhere that it contains a lot of errors. Can someone verify this one way or the other for me. Thanks.

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

Well, I'm going on vacation next week. I'll be disappointed if there aren't at least 200 posts that I have to wade my way thru when I get back requiring a minimum of 4 hours of effort. Mo, how much do you charge to summarize the important points of a week's worth of thread postings :)...

Thanks for posting your method for entering positions. On the STO curves, do you wait for a confirmation of the top/bottom before placing the trade. IOW, do you wait for the curve to actually turn up (if at the bottom) or down (if at the top) so that you have some confirmation that a...

So I'm looking at signing up with IB in order to trade options on futures (eventually). I don't understand this rigamarole on paying for real-time quotes. I'd appreciate it if the guys using IB and trading SP, ES options could give me a quick explanation of which real-time quote "package" I...

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

I have zero experience with futures so maybe this is a stupid question. I see that Coach often posts that he would short futures in the event of a large, hard market drop. But, won't a lot of traders be trying to short SP (and derivatives thereof) futures? Whose going to be on the other...
