ISE not reflecting bids on combo orders

Well for instance today I'm looking at the 780/790 RUT May call vertical with a b/a of .19/.25, if I enter an order to buy for .22 then the b/a will shrink to .22/.25. This wasn't happening yesterday, thats what my complaint was.

Is it possible to profit trading equities by starting with just $1,500 in capital?

Obviously I"m pretty biased on the stock vs option front. I think the best return I ever had trading stocks was 12% in a year followed by a couple of losing years. My option returns are in the 20+% per year so obviously I'd say ditch the stocks and learn to trade options. I wouldn't bother...

Is it possible to profit trading equities by starting with just $1,500 in capital?

It seems difficult to me with stocks but it is possible to make $50 a day using options. Of course you're looking at a pretty high risk high reward trading. I gave up on trading stocks a few years ago and switched to strictly option trading and yeah it's possible to do $50 a day with your...

ISE not reflecting bids on combo orders

Yeah the natural b/a prices are horrible. I admit I don't totally understand how the order routing is handled. You mentioned the complex order book, so my understanding from that is in my example here the 142/144 vert combo showed a b/a of .35/.45 which is just the natural bid/ask (just...

ISE not reflecting bids on combo orders

The destination is SMART but the problem is that its showing the standard wide bid/asks that are like 40 to 50 cents wide. I like to watch those spreads shrink down to 5 to 10 cents before doing a trade to get an idea of if there is a change of direction coming before doing an order. So this...

ISE not reflecting bids on combo orders

It looks like in my TWS, bids are not being reflected on combo option orders. For example A spy May 142/144 vertical spread is showing a bid/ask of .30/.40 and I enter an order for .35 my bid never gets displayed. I talked to support at IB and they said this is an issue with ISE. Anybody...

If you owe money on your home, are you really a 'homeowner?'

If you don't really own your home if theres a mortgage on it......then technically do americans really own the US since foreigners own US debt. Isn't it kind of like the government spends and taps their "home equity line" (ie foreign governments) for money.......wonder when we fully tap the...

    Getting hammered - why?

Sorry dude hate to see people lose money but I guess in order for me to make some...somebody else has to lose some. I'm sure I'll give it back to you in the coming months :) I've been using the vix quite a bit also. It seems like everytime the vix closes around 25 I have been opening FOTM...

    Getting hammered - why?

I'm having the best year so far trading strictly rut, ndx, and spx options only. Being long on both sides and adjusting positions. I was doing a lot of credit spreads up until sept last year and switched to debits, basically buying the iron condors rather than selling and its been easy money...

IB not allowing me to open positions??

They didn't explain what happened, the guy just got my account info, said to hold on and a couple minutes later had me try again and it was working. I have a feeling that for some reason my account liquidiation fell considerably for like a minute after the open. My guess is that raised a flag...

    IB slow executions

I'm in the same situation where at this point I'm nervous to send any significant trades with these delays especially with the quick swings in this market. I know they sent a bulliten today that they were having problems but I've been noticing this since last wednesday or thursday. If they...

    IB slow executions

Yeah I typically trade around 200 contracts a day with pretty quick trades usually (1 minute or less per trade) so execution speed is a BIG DEAL for me. The past 4 or 5 days have been terrible so I've pretty much stopped doing any trades. Today I figured I'd do a test and luckily only entered...

    IB slow executions

Well this execution problem caught up with me today! I was long an option contract on RUT and saw the bid/ask spread as 1.70/1.85 which is a profit for me if I can sell at those prices. I went ahead and entered a limit order to sell the option for 1.70 which is the quoted bid. Hit transmit...

    IB slow executions

Anybody having problems where if they transmit an order in TWS it sits in the blue status for like 30-50 seconds before it goes green? I've been running into this problem the last few days where I transmit an order to buy for the ask price and the order just sits there in blue status and then...

IB not allowing me to open positions??

What the heck I'm trying to buy to close a short vertical call spread for a profit and I keep getting a message that I can't open new positions because account valuation may be incorrect...Hello, IB you suck, I'm freaking long in my portfolio with one short position and a ton of cash. Of course...

Billionaire Joe Lewis still long BSC @ 110?

I'm curious what kind of a position Joe Lewis put on Bear. CNBC is reporting he was long the stock via short puts which means he could be down as much as $800 mil....but thats assuming a naked short put which would be downright foolish. I don't think a billionaire investor would do this. At...

    Bear Stearns going under?

I'm curious what kind of a position Joe Lewis put on Bear. CNBC is reporting he was long the stock via short puts which means he could be down as much as $800 mil....but thats assuming a naked short put which would be downright foolish. Wonder what the real position is....guess we'll never know.
