That was a perfect inverse h&s today good for 30 ES points easy

Yes it did. The first 15 minutes largely overlapped so chances were higher there would be 2-sided trading. Here we are almost 30min to the close and I see a trading range below a trading range. The move down was after a BO failure.

That was a perfect inverse h&s today good for 30 ES points easy

The first 15 minutes RTH will typically show you if there's going to be a trend from the open or broader 2-sided trading in the MES.

    Fibs don't work

I don't do this for a living yet, but 50% for retracements and projections have definitely been a sweet spot for me as well vs fib numbers. It's not always exact, but close is close enough for me.

    daytrading price targets

To the OP, I only trade intraday and set targets based on the type of day. My decision-making is based on the first 15min of PA until proven wrong. Range/Trending range day: I focus on 1:1 trades in the first third of the day. OHLC & pivot tests for range targets later in the day. Tests of the...

    DD Day Trading Diary

Context is more important than one basic rule. As a beginner, you're going to want that at an absolute minimum, but you're going to lose a lot more than you win just going long at a first breakout attempt. Wait for the test of the extreme and a good signal bar before going long; you should...

    DD Day Trading Diary

There were 13 consecutive bear bars prior to that bull entry under your falling moving average(s), no strong break of the trendline, and there wasn't a clear exhaustion bar with a break of the trend channel line. Don't fight the trend.

    DD Day Trading Diary

You have a higher probability of a countertrend trade working out if you wait until the test of the extreme after a strong break of the trendline.

Psychological and emotional triggers in chart patterns

Here's a few... - buying at the top of a trading range as price attempts to break out of the top before waiting for follow-through (same for selling at the bottom) because you don't want to miss the move - trading countertrend in a strong grinding trend that constantly looks like it's about to...

Study buddy for Al Brooks books

Yes, it was worth it. You probably won't like my answer: Go long on a breakout-pullback at the moving average in a strong bull trend. Be patient and look for the 2-5 reasonable swings of the day where your profit target is at least equal to your risk (scalp part and swing the rest).

Study buddy for Al Brooks books

Without going through a good portion of the work it does feel that he's straddling a fence (especially in the first book). It isn't until further into the work that there is more explanation around those if/then scenarios. To me, it felt like a catch-22...he basically outlines all of the...

Study buddy for Al Brooks books

There is a lot of color commentary, but I don't think people read long enough to get to the guidance portion; Book 3 - Chapter 24: The Best Trades, putting it all together. Outlines everything. Regarding only commentary in his trading room, no idea. I haven't joined the chat room (nor do I plan...

Study buddy for Al Brooks books

That's an understandable view if you only review a small sample of the written work. When I first started the books I thought it was ridiculous that everything was a contradiction, how could everything be given some made-up probability value (based on what?), what the hell was a High 1 2 3 etc...

Study buddy for Al Brooks books

Unless you're in a race with someone for shits and giggles, don't rush it. The books are dense for good reason and it's going to take a good long while to get through them if you decide to stick with it. What I found best was to just take a picture of the charts on my phone so I didn't have to...

How do you fight with this?

You can say that again! It's definitely been a good breaker of bad habits and improved risk management though.

When do I become enlightened in terms of price action trading?

I would say hold off on re-reading the first book until you get through all three. I'm working my way through the series and book 2 is where things have been starting to click more. There is thankfully a lot of concept repetition, and then in book 2 more blanks start to get filled in; it felt...

Techniques for Day Trading the ES, NQ, YM, MES, MNQ, and MYM

Small pullback bull trend? I assumed after the break of prev high and bull channel ended. Also, just wanted to add my thanks for this thread. Took me about a month to get through it all/practice but it's been enlightening and has helped me turn a corner.
