    Any overnight traders out there?

Another way to help keep risk down is to trade multiple time frames. Meaning, let's say you chose to trade SPY. You could have one position open trading the trend on the weekly chart, another open trading the trend on the daily chart, another open trading the trend on the hourly chart, and a...

    Any overnight traders out there?

LOL some of those days I didn't want to be awake. I felt it was my duty though, considering what I was trying to do. Other days that's just when I woke up naturally. I don't mind getting up early, as long as it's natural, not via an alarm clock. Sorry for any confusion, Banker

Great! I would love to hear about your experiences in the markets. Thank you, Banker

    Any overnight traders out there?

Yes, position trading is boring. All of the time is spent waiting. Waiting for conditions to change. Either you are waiting to close the position or waiting to open one. Action doesn't happen very often, that's for sure. Even on small time period charts. Nope, I'm not a banker. That was...

    Any overnight traders out there?

I suppose I should provide a reason for asking the question. Basically I'm trying to find out if there is anyone at this forum who has similar trading interests to me. I'll give a little bit of my history, and my current plans. Basically I started "trading" at the end of the bull market in...

    Any overnight traders out there?

Just wondering how many people here, if any, generally hold profitable positions overnight by intention. If you are a trader who generally plans to hold profitable positions overnight, do you trade trends? Banker

Well said Db. I'll keep reading this thread to see everyone's progress. Good luck to all, Banker P.S. I may start a new thread at some point related to trading trends on longer time period charts, with the intention of holding profitable positions for multiple days.

As an outsider (no vested interest in day trading today), today's action doesn't look like the best for trend trading. Banker

Hmm. I was thinking along the lines of applying a trend following strategy to the daily charts or the 120,90,60,30, or 15 minute charts. I wouldn't have the balls to do it with futures. Unless my contract(s) were barely leveraged, if at all. My plan is to use ETF(s) instead. I chose QQQ...

Well that really wasn't my intention, but I love looking at charts :) Don't worry, I won't flame you. Most people don't even bother to post a chart or explain what they do, so it would be hard for you to do something "wrong". Your workstation does shed some light on what you were thinking...

    Keeping It Simple

It's hard to convey how badly I want to be short the market on the daily charts. I know I'm early, that's why I have to do everything in my power to fight the urge.... It never pays to be early. If you want to discuss anything beyond single day events, maybe we could move to another thread...

Thanks, that's kind of what I figured you would say. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I love to read the market too. It's one of my favorite things to do. Probably why I love trading so much. Not necessarily day trading though. It can be fun, but I miss planning out longer term...

How do I access the bracket order feature in TWS? The option is grayed out on the Order menu. Also, what exactly could I do with the bracket feature? I'm guessing it's designed to tie an entry order with an exit order. MOC orders don't seem to be available with futures. No big deal. I...

Oops, I don't think there is a market on close option for futures. I tried building a sample OCA group in TWS and I can't find MOC as an option. So I guess you would have to attach a regular stop, or a trailing stop to a limit order, and skip the MOC option for an exit. Sorry about that...

    Keeping It Simple

I have been working on understanding TWS. From what I understand, the OCA group feature could not be used the way I imagined. I think if I entered the market, I could create exit instructions like this: Let's say I'm long. Sell X contracts ES Limit (average daily range figure or target)...

I honestly don't know, that's why I'm asking. I have seen market on close, and trailing stop orders with TWS, but I have never found a way to combine all of these orders on to one "ticket". It might not be possible. No big deal on the moc, I can always check in near the close to see if I...

I would also like to know if I could attach a market on close order to my original order. Basically have an order like this in the morning: ------------------------------------------------------ Buy 1 contract ES stop 911.00 limit 911.25 -if that fills, submit: Sell 1 contract ES...
