    12/17/03 RMBS Redi......Reliable??

It was NASDAQ's piece of crap system. ECN's flashing all over the place. Supermontage trading through bids/offers (non participants). This stuff happens all the time on the NAZ...especially on massive volume spikes. They really have to re-think their strategy on maintaining a "fair...

    COCO Cock-up Cooked Up?????

The people who were long before the halt and sold on ARCA (before 11:55) or when NASDAQ reopened (at 11:55) had their buys broken (but not until 12:30). Therefore, the sells became way out of the money shorts.

    COCO Cock-up Cooked Up?????

Again, you are missing the point. It has nothing to do with "not being able to handle the repercussions of trading a stock that fell 16 points". That statement is ridiculous. The issue is that long positions were turned into short positions. That was illegal. The firm who...

    COCO Cock-up Cooked Up?????

Spyglass, get your facts straight before you argue a point. 1) NASDAQ reopened the stock at 11:55. They announced that the trades were under review for possible break at 11:57:33. A full two and a half minutes after the stock reopened (check NasdaqTrader.com). 2) The people who lost...

    COCO Cock-up Cooked Up?????

"If you are going to play in that sandbox, don't complain if you get dirty." Getting dirty is part of the game. Having an exchange turn long positions into shorts and stealing money is illegal. Big difference.

    COCO Cock-up Cooked Up?????

Bloomberg, Dow Jones, Reuters, and TTN all said that COCO's CEO had issued a statement that the company had no news and any rumors were false. BTW--- Bloomberg just reported that NASDAQ is being sued over the COCO debacle.

Don, the obvious reason other firms don't answer is because they are not sponsors of the website. If they were to answer, the post would be deleted or the thread closed.

    COCO Cock-up Cooked Up?????

"For those that sold on ARCA during the NAZ halt, if real news had come out and the stock fell another 10 points, would they be crying foul? Extraordinary gains come with Extraordinary risk." There was no "real news". That fact was established before the Nasdaq halt...

I understand your point of view. Just thinking about what has happened to Japan the last decade makes me sick. Let's hope we don't have to experience that.

    COCO Cock-up Cooked Up?????

When they realized the magnitude of the screw up, they should have re-halted the stock and broke EVERY trade for the entire day. Turning long positions into shorts was the absolute worst thing they could have done.

    Any recourse for COCO?
