You broker has the privilege to take that action. It is not strange. However, you are allowed to withdraw or transfer your own money. You can and probably should open up a new account another brokerage firm.

In one of our accounts, 1099's sales proceeds did not match with Schedule-D's sales--though there were no options or over-rhe-year positions. Currently IB says 1099's correct but Schedule-D is not. They wanted this week for a revised Schedule-D.

Even if you did not trade options at all at IB in 2007, nor did you have any over-the-year position in your equity trading, IB's schedule-D1 might not match. It is a problem that should have been fixed last year...
