Any full time day traders out there?

That's easy. Just read their past posts. The problem is ... there are many fakes who sound like genuines. If one is good enough to recognize an elitetrader, he is probably an elitetrader himself and does not require further help anyway.

Any full time day traders out there?

A more interesting question is who are the elitetraders on this forum who are full-time traders for the past 5 years and earning much more than the average person.

    Sim VS. Real Money trading

Paper trading teaches a person the mechanics of trading a financial instrument. For example, someone who has no experience in futures should try paper trading to learn how margin maintenance work. It will be good to let him experience first-hand on paper how he can lose money quickly in a bad day.

How to calculate leverage when trading futures

I read in a book that leverage ratio = Assets/equity. Besides that, one needs to monitor how much assets is made up of debt. If the debt portion grows due to losses, watch out!

Who are the hedgers who buy stock index futures contracts?

I will leave this to Baron if he thinks my threads are stupid and a waste of time to forummers here. However, if the questions are reasonable and contribute to the knowledge of this forum, why limit it? Good threads provoke thought and discussion among the elite traders here. Should there a...

What Happens to These Semi-anual Gaps for IHYG.L?

It is normal for bonds to have a sawtooth price chart. When interest is paid, prices drop. Then, prices recover as time passes to come near to the next interest payment day. This gives the price chart a sawtooth look over time. I don't think it is correct for bonds to adjust for interest...

Is open interest or volume more important consideration in futures trading?

I don't intend to use futures for day trading. I intend to use them for longer-term trading as a speculator. Embarrassed to say, I have yet to place even a single trade on futures. I have been investing in stocks in the past. Now, I am still studying futures.

Who are the hedgers who buy stock index futures contracts?

I have been trying to wrap my head over this question but just cannot do so. Try googling stock index futures hedging and all the search results will tell you hedgers sell index futures contracts for hedging purposes. Most people own shares, so hedging means they sell futures contracts. So, who...

Is open interest or volume more important consideration in futures trading?

May I ask why do you think volume is more important than OpenInterest when interpreting futures price charts?

Is open interest or volume more important consideration in futures trading?

I mainly invest in stocks. There is no such thing as open interest in stocks. Open interest is a new concept to me. In futures trading, do the elite traders here place more emphasis on open interest or volume? If open interest is more important, is volume a distraction which can be ignored?

Glad that it posed no trouble to you. What is most enviable about you is that you manage to find multiple women that you can trust with your money. Amazing! I have heard many stories about men getting poor from divorce. Here is a man who found several women whom he can trust with his money...

Singapore – The Switzerland of Asia

How do you get to enjoy tax-free luxury as an American given that the U.S imposes worldwide taxes? It will be interesting to know the exceptions. If you can't enjoy the lower taxes, why leave home and family to trade in a foreign land when you can do the same at home?

What are your favourite order types for stop losses for IB?

Unfortunately, I noticed that some futures do not support orders with protection features. Futures on Globex supports protection features. Nikkei futures on Osaka exchange don't seem to support orders with protection features. I am not sure if stocks support this feature. It seems like this...

Using stock index futures for passive investing

SPY is a favourite ETF for passive investors into the S&P500 index. How about using ES for passive investing? Wouldn't the leverage be desirable given that stocks usually go up in the long-term? All the books I have read about passive investing do not suggest using ES. Is it a bad idea? What did...

What are your favourite order types for stop losses for IB?

Thanks. Why is it better than normal stop limit order? Any risk compared to normal stop limit order? I read up about this order type. Not sure if I understand it correctly. Is it because the order is smart enough to execute price around the limit stop price to ensure that the stop order is not...

    Trading Futures completely tax free

It's not just taxes on futures gains. U.K has the most ridiculous and highest stamp fee on stocks in the world. 0.5% stamp fee on every stock transaction. They should be nicer to investors after Brexit. Otherwise, the financial hub status will be lost to Frankfurt pretty soon.

What are your favourite order types for stop losses for IB?

I have been advised to always use stop losses when trading futures. So far, I have only been using mental stop limit orders for my stock trading. I am bewildered by the variety of order types in IBKR. May I ask the elite traders here what are your favourite order type for stop losses in IBKR?
