    Xela: More Likes than Posts!!

I strongly doubt Xela is getting likes because she's a female. I believe Xela has substance because we are anonymous to each other, known only to each other by the stuff we write. If Xela gets likes, it is probably she writes well and writes with good sense. Nobody gets paid here for giving...

Peterffy (IB) takes out ad in WSJ to warn against BTC futures

Hi JackRab, Quoted from the article https://www.marketwatch.com/story/w...-to-warn-of-bitcoin-trading-perils-2017-11-15, “While the buyer (the long side) of a cryptocurrency futures contract or a call option could be required to put up 100% of the value to ensure safety, determining the margin...

Global Brokerage files for bankruptcy, delists from NASDAQ

What is going to happen to the money of the forex clients? Will the money in the brokerage account be lost when this broker goes bankrupt? I'm not sure if forex accounts have SIPC protection.

How many active traders are there in the world? What OS do they use?

I wonder what are the societal attitude of these countries towards these traders. Some people look down on traders because they feel they are not socially useful.

Why Interactive Brokers Founder Fears Bitcoin Futures

I would prefer bitcoin futures to be unleveraged given its very high daily fluctuation. If IBKR were to offer bitcoin futures, make it unleveraged, please. Frightened of a MF Global or Refco scenario. Alright, make it 80% margin. Sounds out of place to have unleveraged futures. Might as well buy...

Why Interactive Brokers Founder Fears Bitcoin Futures

As a IB customer, it makes me sleep sound when Interactive Brokers founder has a strong sense of risk. Bitcoin daily fluctuation can be >20% per day. With highly leveraged futures, the broker can be pulled down with their clients.

    My stomach!!!!!

Do not ignore pains and signals from the body. If you go to the doctor early, you could save yourself if it's early-stage cancer. If it's too late, you may have to kiss goodbye to your beloved family. Be safe rather than sorry.

What lessons can traders draw from Amaranth blow-up?

I have read up on the Amaranth blow-up episode. It was definitely a case of position size getting too large. On certain months, Amaranth natural gas trading took up >50% of the month's open contracts and trading volume. In fact, the positions were so huge that they breached regulatory limits...

    Trading for a living....full time....only income

Should the disabled trade? What chance of success do the physically disabled have at success in trading? Not advisable for them to be in this risky game because if they fail, they have no fall-back plan. Most people will fail at trading but they will turn out to be ok because they can go back to...

    Trading for a living....full time....only income

Trading for a living is not difficult when your capital is huge. If your annual expense is $50k and your capital is $2m, you only need to generate returns of 2.5% to earn a living. Even a mediocre can do that. If your capital is small, suck it up and continue to work hard at your job or...

Ackman is so full of it!

Besides making money for himself when the investment worked, did the company's fundamentals really improve for the better? I think that is the most useful yardstick for success. Did Ackman make money at the expense of the company like what some private equity fund did?

Ackman is so full of it!

This is the advantage stupider people like me have an edge over far smarter people like Ackman. Because I admit I am stupid, I get out of danger far sooner than him. I may not make as much money as Ackman does in good time, but I will still be around when bad time hits, thanks to a combination...

Trading Winning Positions - The optimal approach

I agree with you. The $5m he left behind makes him a big winner despite the suicide. $5m during his time was a huge huge sum of money. His suicide had less to do with his trading performance. It had more to do with mental depression. I would say his later years of trading which turn out to be...

Look like ET could not keep many old members actively posting anymore. Why?

Trading is a lonely game. Posting on forums, interacting with online members, help to relieve that problem. As long as members keep out of online quarrels, it is a healthy social exercise.
