So this was like trading in the late 90s?

Sounds like it was much easier to make money in the late 90s than today.

Interactive Brokers customer support totally broken

I have never encountered login access denied during trading hours with IB. Data problems, yes. But never login or orders problems. Did this happen on 5Jan18 Friday?

    I respect your forthrightness.

Mark Mobius underperforms over past 15 yrs. Retires.

Given that this is a forum for traders and investors, I fear you have unwittingly offended several forum members :) I'm a retail investor/trader, not professional fund manager.

What was your investment/trading gains in 2017?

You are better than me. This year, my most disastrous stock picks came from ASX. Some examples were GEM.AX (fell >20% on one fine morning) and DOW.AX (fell >20% on another fine morning). Just writing this reply brings back painful memories.

What was your investment/trading gains in 2017?

I had not-so-good year in ASX stocks although gains were still positive. When you refer to gold, copper, iron ore, coal, nickel, are they futures or ASX stocks?

David Einhorn made only 2% gain in 2017

When I hear Mr Einhorn speak, I know for sure he has a brain 10x better developed than mine. My admiration is sincere. Just search for david einhorn on youtube and you will probably agree with me. I am surprised that he made only 2% gain in 2017. The strangest thing about 2017 is the...

Steven Cohen Plans a New Hedge Fund. Investors Are Wary.

Seems like Steve Cohen has lost his edge. If he can no longer do insider trading, he still can rely on his tape-reading skills. He claims to be a great tape reader and it was this skill which gave him the good start as a fund manager. Has he also lost his tape-reading edge?

Is it bad risk management practice to rely only on one broker?

I am a happy customer of Interactive Brokers. IBKR is my only broker because I cannot find a better alternative for investing in international stocks. The interest rates for margin is also superb. Do members here think it is a bad risk management practice to use only one broker? How do you...

What exactly is order flow? Is it time-and-sales information?

Thanks for the reply. From your reply, I think using order flow is not suitable for stock investors who have a diversified portfolio of stocks. It is too time-consuming to do this for a portfolio of >30 stocks. It seems to be more suitable for forex and stock market indices as there are fewer to...

Is long-term value investing more profitable than shorter-term trading?

I agree that scalability is not an issue for retail speculators. However, for the sake of discussion, I do think scalability is indeed a good reason why the richest market participants tend to be value investors. Value investing as a money-making strategy scales better, so diminishing returns do...

What exactly is order flow? Is it time-and-sales information?

Often, I hear from professional traders that trading according to the order flow is critical to their edge. What exactly is order flow? Is it something that only institutional brokers who can see the client orders coming in can execute? Is order flow an impossible strategy to smaller retail...

    Open source trades analysis software?

In terms of saving cost, software is not a big problem compared to financial data. Financial data is the biggest cost as a retail trader/investor.

Is chart trading dead? (At least when it comes to ES)

Trading intra-day takes a toll on a healthy body. It is ok if you are profitable and still healthy but certainly not ok if you are on chemotherapy.

Bad Christmas present for Europeans. Euro flash crash!

Those dealing with currency futures will be in for a big hit. 3% may be small for stocks, but it's huge for currency. With leverage, it's gonna hit many people's stop loss levels accidentally. Hopefully, few sold out of panic at lousy price only to see big recovery minutes later...

Dealing with risk of "haunted" houses as property investor

Glad to be of use. Do you have bad experience with hotel rooms and rented apartments before? Hopefully, not your own house.

Dealing with risk of "haunted" houses as property investor

Very interesting. Good ending. Sold at 600k above comparable homes. Maybe it's good idea to buy haunted houses :) The Ghostbusters home sold on Jan 8, 2016 for more than $600,000 above comparable homes in Nyack according to Trulia, fetching $1,770,000.[11]

Dealing with risk of "haunted" houses as property investor

Recently, my family stayed in a hotel which gave us the creeps. My wife couldn't sleep well and was very tired the next day. It almost spoil the vacation until we changed room. I will leave out the details. When buying new property, how do you handle the risk of buying a haunted house? This is...

Is volume analysis useful in index futures?

In futures, there is open interest besides volume. It puzzles me whether one should consider both open interest and volume in futures analysis. Which is more important consideration? Open interest or volume?

Korean crypto exchange Youbit hacked again, files for bankruptcy

How do customers know if it was hackers or internal stuff who stole the coins? It could be an inside job. Nobody knows since bitcoin ownership is anonymous.
