    Thoughts on Larry Connors books?

That book is about mean reversion strategies. So, if you're not into this kind of strategy, you may not find it useful. Doesn't mean it doesn't work for others .

Index funds with the biggest gains of 2019

The stupidity tax puzzles me. Only rich people are eligible to get into hedge funds. Surely, if they are stupid, they can't become rich in the first place, right? Chances are hedge fund clients are intelligent people. I think hedge funds are really great at marketing. THey are able to sell...

IF those fees are robbery, what about 2 and 20 charged by long-term under-performing hedge funds?

World’s Biggest Hedge Fund Returns Are Found in Tiny Singapore

Reduced freedom is present in every country and every industry. It is called regulation. Without proper financial regulation, I see more people losing their pants in financial markets. Without proper health safety regulation, more people will die eating the wrong food and/or medicine. Having...

World’s Biggest Hedge Fund Returns Are Found in Tiny Singapore

Lucky you. Living in Singapore as a resident is wonderful. However, being a Singaporean carries the life-threatening duty of being called up for military duty out of the blue like an Israeli should one day the country is invaded. It is a tiny vulnerable country. Every male citizen is a...

World’s Biggest Hedge Fund Returns Are Found in Tiny Singapore

It's true Americans have more political freedom. However, many people, including me, don't care about political freedom as long as we can make good money. I only care about economic freedom and a pro-business government which creates a good environment to make money. Why would I criticise a...

    Are You a Parasite?

Not in the article. It's just that this article triggered me about criticism about traders. You hear that sort of criticism in the comment section of news articles, especially from Financial Times. I wonder what the traders on this forum have to say with regards to this kind of criticism about...

    Are You a Parasite?

I have heard this kind of talk about traders being parasites. The successful traders don't create useful things, yet get rich out of it. I do trade, so I do get affected by this kind of talk because there's some truth to it. Some only. It's true that traders don't produce really useful stuff...

No problem. I really don't care if I don't FEEL it. What matters is the economic freedom to make money with minimal government interference. That's what I feel we have in abundance here.

Used to be easier. Now, harder after a population explosion due to excessive immigration. THere was a political backlash in 2011 from locals who faced stress competing with foreigners in the job market. Same problem everywhere. It's still not hard to immigrate here if the foreigner has special...

I see. Freedom is subjective. For me, I don't feel restricted living in Singapore. So, happy here. Some Singaporeans prefer U.S/Australia/New Zealand because they can afford to live in bigger houses and cheaper cars. It's all subjective.

Zero. I'm a Singaporean. Zero capital gains tax since day one. Government makes up from other taxes. Singaporeans pay for the most expensive cars in the world. Same goes for cigarettes. And 7% consumption tax. Taxes for property speculators.

Don't know what you mean by less freedom. I live in Singapore. I have complete freedom to make money. Minimal government inteference when it comes to making money. That's the kind of freedom I want and care about.

I absolutely agree about the safety aspects. Low crime, guns are banned (death penalty for anyone who fires a gun), e-cigarettes are banned, heroin is banned (death penalty for drug trafficking), chewing gum is banned, clean government. No need to bribe government officials when you do business...

I disagree with you about hot chicks, given the small population. If you want hot chicks, you've a better chance in countries with bigger population like China, U.S

World’s Biggest Hedge Fund Returns Are Found in Tiny Singapore

The most logical reason the biggest hedge fund returns are found in tiny Singapore is because the hedge funds are likely to be among the tiniest. It is easier to generate high returns with tiny AUM. Nothing special about Singaporeans. I live in that tiny city.

Another year of hedge funds not earning their keep

From a customer perspective, index funds/ETFs are cheaper and better. It is accessible to anyone, including the lower-income retail investor. Comparing hedge funds with index alternatives is a natural thing to do. It's small wonder why logical investors will shun hedge funds to embrace index...
