    Florida vs California...

I live in FL and really like it. California seems like a better place to live if money is no issue, but if it is you are better here. For what you pay in Cali you can live very well in this state.

    RBC Prop Trading Group

Gentlemen, Just Because Carlin/Generic trading has RBC in front of the name does not make them much different than they were before. Its business as usual. The high commissions are there to compensate for the lack of deposit most likely. I personally would lose 10k+ per month with a...

Bright vs. Genesis vs. Tuco vs. xEcho ?

Birdman, I learned how to trade at another firm (mostly taught myself). I trade my method mostly, but am always adding new things into the mix, the more the strategies I learn the better . I like the operation and trust the owners. I have been to the 3 day orientation class but nothing...

    Forex Daytrading a Losing game?

IluvVol, Out of curiosity, you said you work for a sell side firm with a prop. desk. Are you a sell or buy side trader? The reason I daytrade: I am willing to use leverage intraday that I would never use longer term. This is because intraday I am able to micro manage or "baby sit"...

20% return per month FX trading

Why not start a new thread at 10% per month and risk less. It would be a shame to see you blow up. Keep up the good work. I look forward to watching your progress.

How do the BIG BOYS trade?

There is more than one way to skin a cat my friend. You did not get my point. If you could take 30k out of your capital account and put it into an account that you consistently made (200k plus per year) wouldn't you do it? You can still invest the rest doing whatever mid to longer term...

How do the BIG BOYS trade?

The reason for this is simple. You can't day trade with the size these fellows trade. What I can do with 1-2k shares is not the same as moving 100,s of millions around. He speaks from his experience (moving large sums of money around), as with Buffet, Soros, and the like. They have no...

Boston Prop - Chimera v. Bright

Not true. There is a 3 day class, a 4 week boot camp, an entire stat arb program through an affiliate, computer programers that help you automate, and strategies that work. Not trying to hype Bright or anything, but there is so much misinformation flowing on this site I feel compelled to...

Not so. Most people pay less than .005 cents per share these days.

Who gets the "Props" for training..?

Quote: On what ground people come here and say prop traders make 50k/yr? Good point! That is just a good month... Be careful who you listen to, some people are cut out to be corporate salesman or managers... Listen to them if you want to pursue that for a career, but not when it comes...

Who gets the "Props" for training..?

I have to disagree with some of the previous posters. If you want to trade (really trade) not work as a salesman "trader" there is no better time than now. If you wait you will never do it, you will get married, have kids, and more responsibility.... In other words the best time to do it will...

Don't buy a house! Rent and invest in stocks to get richer?

Now lets assume that after person 2 pays off his house in 15 years he takes $1,800 per month (what the renter is still shelling out in rent every month) and invests it in the S& P 500 at 12% compounded for 15 years. After 15 more years: (assuming 3% rent increases take place and the house...

Don't buy a house! Rent and invest in stocks to get richer?

Assume the following: Person 1: Pays $1200 per month in rent (and takes 15k and invests it in the S&P 500 making 12% per year compounded) vs. Person 2: Pays $1,170 monthly on a 15 yr fixed rate mortgage (150k house 10% down or $15k) In 15 years the person who bought the...

    Joining RBC/Carlin

Look at Bright, Assent, or Hold Brothers for a better prop. deal. Check out IB and Genesis for the lowest commissions in the retail arena. That is the kind of deal we used to see 7 years ago, alot has changed since then. Good luck.
