Does buying diagonal staretgies work well?

Well it's almost Friday. Safe to say AMD performed way above my expectations to the point where I'm hurting on the August put. I closed the 72 short put for a $5.15 profit but sold another one closer price at 75. Tough decision to make when doing this trade. I wasn't expecting AMD to move...

Does buying diagonal staretgies work well?

Anyway since I started this thread, I'll put this to the test with AMD today. Since it's expiration, I didn't see any reason not to sell ATM after I bought the 65 long. I would have rolled it anyway if it expired ITM. I closed 68 prematurely since AMD kept rallying, I figured it might...

I got out as soon as the market opened on Thurs. Good thing I did.

Do you expect another sell-off after earnings?

Since we're only talking about Q4 2018... How did Powell get stupid again? Wasn't he the one raising rates all year?

Do you expect another sell-off after earnings?

They've been doing it. It went from 0-2.25% in 3 years I think? 25 basis points each time.

Do you expect another sell-off after earnings?

Oct-Dec 2018. It was right after biggest companies reported Q3 earnings. November was insane 1,300 point swings. Than Dec the whole thing crashed. You don't remember?

Do you expect another sell-off after earnings?

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic. Market tanked in 2018 mostly on good earnings.

Do you expect another sell-off after earnings?

How much did we add to the national debt since we printed 6 trillion from Covid all from the fed? Now the fed owns what? 40% of US debt?

Do you expect another sell-off after earnings?

Quarter 4 2018 was one of the worst quarters in history. It happened right after most of the major movers completed their earnings reports. Nflix beat earnings but tanked 15% Apple decided to hide their numbers Nvda got caught on the bitcoin train etc.. etc.. All that happened but the...

Options bet tsla to add $75 billion in market cap

There is too much negative news right now for market to keep going up like this. I'd be careful after earnings seasons is over.

Did this fail? Only +5%! Those premiums were probably huge with the Tesla IV. I sold a put expiring in Oct at 800 strike. I guess I don't need to wait till Oct to get out of it for nothing now. HA!

Does buying diagonal staretgies work well?

I explicated stated that if the trade was to go against you, it'd be a losing trade but it will be less than if you were to trade a same expiration spread. However, if the trade goes in my favor, I would gain more value than same expiration spread otherwise, since ATM options have higher...

Does buying diagonal staretgies work well?

I don't. This is more of a defensive strategy. This strategy 70% of the time, you'll make LESS if you were to just go same expiration. The benefit is you will lose a lot less if the trade was to go against you. It's good for if you think the market is topping out but still want a piece of the...

Does buying diagonal staretgies work well?

I guess not that many people here trade diagonals or my initial post is too long. Different strikes.

Does buying diagonal staretgies work well?

Because 2 things can still go wrong: 1) trade goes agaisnt you, you'll lose all your profits from expired put but it'll be significantly less than a vanilla spread. 2) underlying goes too much in your direction, the premium from the long will lose more than the new short. It's a tough...

Does buying diagonal staretgies work well?

That's assuming the trade doesn't turn around. It increases your risk slightly because your Long term option will not gain as much premium as the value you lost on the short but it's still better than being in the same expiration. If it goes in your favor, it can't be too bullish or you'll...

Does buying diagonal staretgies work well?

Example: -XXX July 31st SHORT PUT +XXX Sep 31st LONG PUT I believe the concept is you want it to move away from your strike prices so the earlier option (with more premium will expire faster) but not too much or you'll be looking at a bigger loss in the long one. I find it extremely painful...

    TWTR

Why is this thread from May 13th and nobody is renewing it? Big talk about TWTR right now between Twitter losing it's 230 privileges. Why is Twitter even up today? I know it's just an executive order from Trump, but doesn't seem like it'll freak investors out? If Trump's order goes...

Is AMD competitors with Nvda or Intel?

Are they competing with both? I heard they are kicking intel's ass but when I buy computer parts for graphics, it's usually only AMD or Invdia. Intel makes the CPU or does AMD do that too?

    Why is deflation more common?

Doesn't 1 and 2 contradict? I know a large part of US economy is fueled by domestic consumption. You're saying it's not enough? US are the biggest consumers in the world, so this is a nebulous concept. So you're saying we're deflating because we're not spending some arbitrary amount that's...
