    Ltcm

A good book about the rise and fall of LTCM called "When Genius Failed" by Roger Lowenstein. Very interesing read. Towards the end LTCM's positions were so large, to try and unwind them became almost impossible. Once the other W.S. brokers began to figure out their strategies, it was all over.

    Sell and Exchange Forum?

I have the series 7 books. When you get to K.W., I'll show you them....no value for trading, only if you want to become a broker or if you need a license for a prop firm. Scott

Is THIS what trading's all about ??

What exactly are your expectations? And what is the basis for your expectations. (based on your experience, profit expectations, etc.)

Best of Trades, Worst of Trades, Some of the Others too

Well then, what do you see from that? As I stated before, this must be a process of elimination. So far I would say; 1. Eliminate "experiments". If you want to try something new limit your size to 100 shares. 2. Eliminate small caps or any other illiquid trading vehicle. Liquidity is...

Best of Trades, Worst of Trades, Some of the Others too

KF, Here's another little exercise you might want to try. In one of your previous posts you stated you win/loss ratio. Try looking at it from another perspective, instead of just winners to losers. Take your last thirty trades. Take all your losers and break it down into two...

Best of Trades, Worst of Trades, Some of the Others too

Hi KF, I would certainly consider many instruments as being suitable for trading. My real point is that the issue with many traders (myself included) is not what we trade, but how we trade it. I found many parallels in your initial posts to my experiences. Because I love trading...

Best of Trades, Worst of Trades, Some of the Others too

KF, It's not so much that the bad trades trigger self -analysis.... it's that the bad trades require self-analysis. The problem is not the set-ups, or the hardware or software problems. Those issues come with the territory. The problem is ourselves The reason no one has yet come...

    Problems w L2 on T.S lately

I did speak to a rep today at T.S. He did acknowledge that there were problems they are aware of, and told me they were in the process of running tests on new servers and they are trying to resolve the issues as soon as possible. I also had problems again on L2 and the order bar. Hopefully...

    Problems w L2 on T.S lately

No, you're not alone. Same problems. Fills were terrible. I have to believe the data was lagging. I sent an e-mail yesterday. I will send another. Scott

    Problems w L2 on T.S lately

I think you're right about AMEX. If the problems continue I'll also send an e-mail. The more of us that complain, will hopefully cause them to address these issues. Good luck today

    Problems w L2 on T.S lately

Friday so far was the worst. Yesterday was not as bad though the bid/ask buttons did lag the bid/ask on L2. Stuck AMEX quotes not as bad. For some reason, fills were terrible but I don't know if that's me or if it's lagging data.

Best of Trades, Worst of Trades, Some of the Others too

I'm still a little baffled, but I want to share some thoughts. Your story is by no means unique, that's for sure. I had been in a similar situation. I was profitiable during the bull market, gave it back in 01 and became profitable again in 02. I was very close to shutting down as a...

Best of Trades, Worst of Trades, Some of the Others too

I feel as if I know you since birth (from the SI Daytrading thread), but I certainly don't want to be here at the end. I am a little baffled by your last post....are you through trading or was your "rip" signoff just the end of the "kymarfye" handle?

    Active Traders

Candlesticks are like any other tools. They have a high probability of predicting the future price but two people may see two different patterns and draw opposite conclusions.. I don't believe there are any technical indicators that have a "high probability of predicting the...

Spotting market short orders on NYSE

The question was "how can you spot a short"...... you can't, plain and simple... you can only speculate about what you are seeing and how you want to interpret it is subjective......

Spotting market short orders on NYSE

why don't you post your response here? I would like to see how you can be sure whether an order is short or long... I stand by my statement that you can only speculate unless shown otherwise.
