    tws 783 Bracket Trade

tried it for the first time today.....excellent! It did something that myself and many traders fail to do on occaision......it managed the trade. I also feel more confident with a stop loss in place. I got stopped out once, but it kept the downside to exactly what I was willing to risk.

    Tight Stops Nightmare!

There's nothing wrong with buying a stock in an uptrend...but the danger of buying any illiquid stock is that the spreads can be horrendous.....if you want to be an investor, then it doesn't matter as much, but as a trader, the dilemma is getting stopped out if your stops are too tight (and what...

    Tight Stops Nightmare!

To expand on what richtrader said, I think the issue has more to do with the stock pick as opposed to where you placed the stop.

    Tight Stops Nightmare!

BBA traded 122,000 shares today. What I see on your chart is normal for an illiquid stock. Stick to issues with avg. daily volume of at least 1 to 2 million shares.....bare minimum.

    E-mini traders....any advice

Cathy, My concern with a trailing stop, is if it doesn't get filled, how long will it take to cancel and re-submit new order. What I have noticed trading equities with IB, is that order cancellation was not nearly as fast as TS or Cyber. It seems so far that the best approach for me would...

    E-mini traders....any advice

If I am monitoring the position what is the opinion regarding placing a stop order? Am I better off putting in a stop limit order when I put on the trade or should I just be ready to enter the sell (or buy) order as a market (or limit, if the market is not moving that fast) order if the trade...

    E-mini traders....any advice

I'm not focusing on the dollars or the cents at this point....but having no experience actually executing an e-mini trade, I am trying to get a consensus on the best methods of execution (obviously depending on market conditions), and I would like to have some idea as to what to expect when I do...

    E-mini traders....any advice

Based on yur post, if the market begins to move fast against you, is it better to use a market order to get out and accept the slippage, rather than take a chance a limit order won't be filled?

    E-mini traders....any advice

I have been trading equities for the last 3 years and I am now getting ready to begin trading the e-minis. My main concerns are the pitfalls of execution.....I'm not sure what to expect. I am using IB for my trades. I will be day trading only. Any advice regarding pitfalls, problems, slippage...

    Any experience with MemTurbo?

I have 512mb DRAM in one machine that runs e-signal and EascTrend software during the day. When I scroll thru chart pages or I get an alert, computer slows down and locks up for a few seconds. I am not that computer savvy, but shouldn't the 512mb be adequate?

    IB and corporate accts

I'm not a financial advisor. It's a partnership account that I trade for myself and some friends, so I'm not generating any commissions.

    Trader Taxation / CPA Experiences

My previous post was not an expression of my opinion. It was an expression of my experience in dealing with GTT tradelog the company, and Mr. Green, who was very helpful in getting me up and running with my software. My opinion is that I got exactly what I was looking for, exactly what I...

    Trader Taxation / CPA Experiences

I have used GTT tradelog and I have been very satisfied. I initially installed it about a year ago, and when I had a few problems, I spoke to Mr. Green. He was pleasent, patient, and more than helpful. He helped resolve my issues, and from that point on it was smooth sailing. Having dealt...

    Is it trading or gambling?

It all depends on how much you mitigate the risk. If you don't look both ways before you cross the street, that would be gambling. If you don't stop at a red light, that would be gambling. If you work hard at trading, study, adhere to the rules you set forth, that would be speculating...

    Tradelog

I have Tradelog and it has saved me a lot of work. I was able to download the entire year in a format that was acceptable to my accountant (and more importantly, the IRS) I am now switching to IB, and I haven't checked yet if you can download directly from their clearing house. Well worth the money.
