Perhaps that type of order (stop and reverse) is not supported. They may be trying to force you to place two orders: one to close the open position, the other to place a stop in the opposite direction. Of course that is more commissions for them.

IB is ridiculous with margins as there is no differentiation between intraday and overnight trading. This is patently stupid on their part. As a result, I moved my IB account to Ironbeam.... Great service, great execution.... My only complaint is their $40 fee for wire transfers...and then...

Huge difference: manual vs. automated. Go ahead and try to build an algo that has intuition and is news-aware. Good luck. Auto systems garnish small profits with frequent trrades.

Good idea, but the basic problem was that I was not letting my profits run. I was cutting them off short. This was totally due to lack of experience at the time. I've now learned not to get rattled by a streak of losses.

Easier said than done. My experience showed me that after a string of stop losses, the next trade I made would start to show a profit and I WOULD TAKE IT. In many cases, that trade, if held, would go on to double or triple the profit amount I had realized by getting out too soon. This situation...
