    Vertical Spreads for Aggressive Growth

Waiting patiently (or maybe not so patiently) for the FOMC announcement tomorrow. I don' t think it will reveal anything new but just in case I'd like to sit it out for a day or so. Looking at: PAAS (I think $20 will be the new support) SHLD (wondering if the resistance will hold again)...

    Vertical Spreads for Aggressive Growth

Thanks Mo. I must admit that it wasn't unwittingly that I asked that question. As you said, it is only obvious that for every credit spread there is a debit spread. The interesting thing is that everytime I start talking about spreads, everyone assumes I am talking about debit spreads. I've...

    Vertical Spreads for Aggressive Growth

I do make a lot of trades like these. But some don't fall into any of these categories. I also implied (or meant to imply) in my first post that I wouldn't include past results. We'll see the success (or failure) as we go along. Those who know me know that I hate it when people promote a...

Yes, I will be selling OTM. I also can't make an argument for buying OTM on that methodology. By the way, although I've been trading options for quite some time, there are those out there (e.g. riskarb) that are exceptional with the greeks, and can give a far more accurate mathematical...

2330% annualized ...ahhh...if only it were really that easy. :p It is nice to dream though. On the other hand. 200-300% is very possible. Of course there are always the bad years, but let's just hope that this isn't one of them. HEHE :D I might have a couple obstacles to overcome this...

    Vertical Spreads for Aggressive Growth

Interesting thing about the investing/trading world. Conventional longterm investors say that all the equity daytraders are dead, or soon will be if they keep daytrading. On the other hand, those that daytrade stocks say the same thing about options traders. "Everyone that trades...

    Vertical Spreads for Aggressive Growth

I guess that was a little confusing. When I started writing the first post I realized that there would probably be a lot of people who would think that my actual account balance is 10K. Then they would spend their valuable time writing to me about how I should have a different strategy until...

    Vertical Spreads for Aggressive Growth

I decided to start a journal for my own educational benefit. If anyone would like to join in with helpful suggestions they are more than welcome. Questions are also welcome as long as they aren't about why I'm such an idiot. :D And for all those that want to make comments (flamers), NO I am...

You'll begin to notice something if you play a strategy similar to mine. During a Bull market bears are easy to find, and visa versa. During a bull market the strong companies are making new highs which scares me because "what goes up......." and all that. Of course I love it when they hit...

You've now got 4 bullish positions. It would probs be in your best interest to have at least one bear. I would've recommended SHLD bear call spread earlier in the day. It tested resistance again and then fell back down. You might look at that one on monday. :D

Hmmm.... Didn't expect two huge jumps in a row. We'll see what the FOMC statement has in store in the near future. I think I'm holding off a bit until then.

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

You can do a OTO (One Triggers Other) at ToS, but with the limits you aren't guaranteed to get filled on the second order. I think that OX and IB both offer this kind of trade too.

That's pretty much how I felt about futures when I started studying them a while back. As an options trader there wasn't much about futures that appealed to me. I was just wondering if you'd realized something about them that I didn't. Thanks for the info.

ChrisM, You mentioned you're CTA. What's your basic strategy/theory on the markets? As you're probs more familiar with futures than I am. I'd like your opinion. I'm not trying to start a debate, so anyone that wants to argue can look for a debate somewhere alse. As you see it, what...

Rarely single leg (long or short). Mostly vertical spreads with some other combos mixed in for flavor and hedging. :D IMO vertical spreads in vaious combinations allow for great trades most of the time. I do think that there are certain times in non-directional trading that you can...

Options for about a decade. I don't trade stocks short term much. I also don't have much interest in futures. Options work well enough for me.

There's the recovery I was looking for. Hope everyone made money like I did today. Had to lock in profits on some of my FEB spreads.
