Windows Vista Beta 2 - Mini Review & Impressions by JMowery, Enjoy

I think a good compromise is XP x64. It is not so bleeding edge as Vista, yet it is an updated XP. I am very happy with my installation. You have to choose your hardware carefully, for compatibility reasons.

Is IB's Data Good Enough For Scalping?

Yes, get an IB account. My only issue is with the contention that the high's/low's of IB data compare with tick-by-tick streams. It seems that CME is ok. I used to see differences with foreign markets, but to be honest I haven't checked lately.

Is IB's Data Good Enough For Scalping?

I don't agree with this at all. Certainly IB data can be used for scalping. It is fast, but to say the highs / lows are comparable is misleading.

    CQG Charges for delayed data

They are on a 80's model of charging a luxury price for a luxury product. Probably for the same reason trader's books are twice the price of regular books. I guess we are all rich and can afford what it takes.

Is IB's Data Good Enough For Scalping?

I'm talking about the difference between IB's own historical data, and their ticks coming in in realtime. I collect quotes (open, high, low, close for a time block, say one minute, then construct my own candle), and the candles look different from when you request history to overwrite realtime.

Is IB's Data Good Enough For Scalping?

I ssem to notice a difference between their historical data and quotes collected in realtime. I.e. there is a significant difference between the data when it is refreshed after a time. It's like IB' servers receive different, more ticks.

    Annoying eSignal bug

Ok, this one's been bugging me for years. When a chart is filling in data, each new bar will be drawn on the right, while the rest of the chart shifts left. Most programs handle this very well. I don't really notice anything unusual. However, eSignal seems to take its time drawing the new...

Simple question, Why use QT, with IB?

Hmm...I am using QuoteTracker and IB right now. So far I like it. I can make the charts look just like eSignal. May even ditch eSignal, but would have to do without data downloads and custom indicators. Exchange fees are a lot less, too.
