how do you know the size is still legit

I am not sure I am understanding everything that is being asked in this post but let me throw out some thoughts here: when you see the specialist lock his quotes, (post 1) he is merely turning off his 'auto-ex' . He needs to do so in order to limit his liability, obviously if there are...

How do prop managers decide buying power

Excellent post Corey! The amount of BP a trader is alloted is a function of many variables. However, I think one of the things that is often overlooked by many traders is the risk that having significant BP represents. It is one thing to entrust millions of dollars to what a prop firm may...

    NYSE Pricing Changes

Are you saying the fee for billable orders is now .25 / K ? Does this pricing structure change mean that all orders are now .25 / K, if so then yes I would agree with your statement.

    Australian Gold Coast Traders

I wish dude. Spent a few weeks there a number of years ago hitting all the spots form Byron Bay to Surfer's Paradise, with a few too many trips to Conrad Jupiter's thrown in. Ah the care free days of youth. Sitting here looking at my board right now....... sigh :)

    NYC Prop Firms

This is a great post!!!!! But for exactly the opposite reason to what its author is trying to communicate. Read the analogy again ( the reason I quoted the whole thing). The logic that is driving the response of the monkeys is exactly what causes so many negative posts on these boards about prop...

Russell 2000 stocks: Do you use market, limit, pegged, or Nasdaq cross orders? Ideas?

Again, I am not sure exactly what your strategy is but you said in the first post this is a 'day trading strategy' so my assumption is that you do not wish to carry your positions over night. Given this fact I think using limit orders in the closing cross could be problematic. What happens if...

Russell 2000 stocks: Do you use market, limit, pegged, or Nasdaq cross orders? Ideas?

Dude, My experience with peg orders is that unless a stock has good liquidity and relative volatility they don't work well for acquiring shares. In the circumstance you are describing I actually think you may drive the price away from yourself, especially if someone picks up on your pegs...

ECN Fees..... What do you pay?

Thanks for the response Steve! My take on the rate changes as of Feb are : No changes to Naz NYSE- Inet, Brut are now .50/k rebate to add .70/k charge to remove. Arca stays the same 0 rebate to add 1.00/k to remove. Brutdot is free to remove if you allow sweep of INET and BRUT books...

ECN Fees..... What do you pay?

A question for all the active traders out there, what does the ECN schedule look like at the firm you trade at? No need to post firm name, just the add remove fees for the various routes you have available to you. EXCH ROUTE ADD REMOVE...

average profit goal for high volume traders?

Agree 100% ! If you are a high volume trader and you averaging 1 to 2 cents per share you are kicking ass! The assumption here of course is that you can take the 1-2 cents per share and leverage it across millions of shares per month. It doesn't seem like much but (1-2 cents / share) but I would...

New CNBC Format - Big Mistake

HaHaHaHa, this is just about one of the funniest threads I have read on Elite. The new format definitely sucks ass! Its for pikers, I don't know how these guys expect us to take them seriously? I mean the whole Cramer thing is bad enough, but at least it is entertaining for a couple of...

Why is it that ALL brokers do not understand true latency?

I agree with Mr Rockford on this one. The discussion on this thread is not about piss ant traders who's executions are just chasing everyone else around anyways. The topic raised here by Sig. is one that impacts everyone but is only relevant to those whose endeavors would ever lead them down a...

    Going for prop money

Having read through this thread from your first post to your most recent I think there are a couple of points to be made. First, seems to me that you , like a lot of people I have seen come and go in the prop business seemed to approach your decision to enter this business complete ignorance...

Why is it that ALL brokers do not understand true latency?

Sig., I think the the points that you make are valid and the probs you experience are legit. I think the thing is the situation you are identifying is a classic example of industry and 'big money'. Truth is brokers and providers loath change. They like to think that they can get away with...
