    Short-selling faces clampdown by SEC

I remember hearing last year that in Japan the shorting rules were changed. You guys know exactly what they tried to pull off? Also, I agree that politicians are dumb, and I'd like to add that the problem isn't that they are really dumb. The problem is that they are bastards who will ruin...

    Short-selling faces clampdown by SEC

Bob, I highly doubt that the SEC will stop allowing you to buy put options and sell futures contracts. Futures are designed to hedge, not originally intended for speculation. If the SEC disallowed insitutions to short sell futures, the entire banking system could go under. You see, if bad...

    Broker/Dealer Setup

I want to get one of those Broker/Dealer setups so that I can get really good leverage on stocks. I've heard that I can get 12/1 leverage, and that all I need is $2 Million in capital. Anybody know how to get setup?

    Short-selling faces clampdown by SEC

You can still buy put options and short futures. Shorting e-mini S&P 500 contracts is awesome. So much leverage, I go in and out on 100 lots on position trades, the liquidity is soooo nice. You don't move the market even if you do some really leveraged trades.

    Whoa Baby! What happened?

I saw that jump as well, and so did two other of my buddies on different trading systems. That was heinous. I was freakin' out when I saw that. Did those numbers actually trade? Or is it all a typo?

where to trade open outcry futures?

yeah, you could just short the hell out of the cap markets. We're totally gonna crash. But guys, let's not mess up our man's plans. He want to trade commodities, don't set him off of course.

where to trade open outcry futures?

Why don't you try to find a floor broker in a pit somewhere? What you wanna trade, maybe I can direct you to somewhere? I know people all over the NYMEX and Comex. I'm thinking that is probably what you wanna trade, energy and metals, right? If that is the case, PM me. I'll try to help you out...

    Iraq is whispering something

A lot of you guys saying that the market will rip up are all just hoping that the market will go up. Look at the probabilities here. If one bad thing happens, the market is not going to buy into it. You guys are so biased to the upside. The "unthinkable event" is not going to be a good one, but...

    Iraq is whispering something

By expiration in March the Dow will be below 5800. The Dow will top in May-June. The Dow will continue to tank to 2000-3000 levels. The highly doubt that this is going to be a quick operation like last time. Remember, last time the Gulf War had to end early so that Israel would not retaliate...

    Last day for futures options

I just called Globex. They don't even know when options on their own exchange expire?????????????????????

    Last day for futures options

When do options on the e-mini S&P 500 expire? Is it 4:15PM on Friday, or is it first tick tomorrow morning like regular index options?

    78.6%????????????

Rich, it's ok. You're still cool with us. You can post whenever you want.

    78.6%????????????

Rich, you put your decimal in the wrong place. Not that it is wrong, but it is not what is usually used. Maybe your charting software puts the decimal there. Usually the spread between a top and a bottom are charted with retracements, which have to be percentages (0.618 or 61.8%).

    78.6%????????????

ahhhhh....thanks...I think that was the only thing that I didn't look at. Greatly appreciated info.
  16. R

    78.6%????????????

Where does the 78.6% retracement number come from? It seems to have nothing to do with fibonacci numbers, and no matter how you play with the fib ratios, you do not get 78.6%. Thanks

Why is nasdaq e-mini so "jumpy" today?

Sometimes you think the data problem is cleared up and then it comes back. That has happened to me too. It sucks.

Why is nasdaq e-mini so "jumpy" today?

can we form a class action lawsuit against Globex. I know that you sign those forms when you get quotes, which say the bad data could come accross, but Globex has had bad data TOO MANY TIMES!!! I mean, it gets to a point where a judge will side with you if you can show how the system constantly...

Why is nasdaq e-mini so "jumpy" today?

Globex screwed us all pretty hard today. The quotes were so messed up. I can't believe that they still don't have it together over there.

    $100 trillion dollars in derivatives

Egos kicking in.....Just to let you know, being mean to the "little guys" doen't accomplish much, and it doesn't get to the bottom of the issue either. And to make a statement that we have no idea what we are talking about is kind of harsh. Furthermore, it doesn't matter what kind of size...
