Gotcha, but I don't think one can trade against one's base currency and survive over the long term. IMO, and this is just my opinion, it's more prudent to find a safe haven to protect against the fall of the USD and just forget it. Monitor where you put those converted dollars of course but I...
Good idea, I'd like to find a home for my money though. Might convert to AUD and invest in their markets, also might create a basket of different currencies (AUD, YEN, CAD, etc.) Just want to do it at the right time.
So you think it will bounce to 83 huh at year end? Is that because of the market correction that is coming very shortly? Dollar should bounce when that happens.
If the dollar destabalizes, this Chinese ETF (FXI) should explode to the upside right and will result in gains if both Yuan gains against the USD, and the Chinese market outperforms.
Is that correct??
Betas are usually a good indicator of what type of vol the name has. Under 1 and you're usually dealing with low vol, 1 to 1.25 usually has mid range vol, and higher betas will have higher vols.
Not always the case, but normally.
So in order to use 1 mini to hedge a book, you would need roughly:
33,000 Dollar Deltas to use a Nasdaq Mini (20 *1670)
50,000 Dollar Deltas to use an S&P Mini (50 *1000)
58,000 Dollar Deltas to use a Russell Mini (100 *580)
These are rough approximations!
Anyone use future minis to hedge your deltas at end of day instead of hedging each stock's deltas? I think I may start doing this to save some money on commissions which is coming out to about 200 a day right now.
Anyone know the equivalent dollar deltas of trading 1 S&P Mini, 1 Nasdaq Mini...
Any professional option traders having difficulty making money on long vega positions right now? I'm having a hell of a time.. I like to keep my vega ratio between long and short fairly balanced but my longs are killing me.
