    Fair Value and Futures

According to the CNBC site, fair value is: ...the value of S&P 500 Index, plus the interest I pay my broker to buy all of the stocks in it, minus all of the dividend checks I get from those stocks. http://www.programtrading.com/fvalue.htm

Have you ever been threatened by Interactive Brokers ? Yes, we did

Any culture that idolizes Jerry Lewis films is not to be feared, but pitied. I hope the EU does become a robust market economy. Then maybe the US citizens will get a break from having to carry the burden of the world economy. It'd be nice to net export to the EU instead of importing all the...

    Whatever happened to ETA?

Thanks nkhoi, it was nice to see a few of the pages from the past and remember when someone was watching out for us. I suppose after the next psycho rampage we'll all be forced out of business (and the politicians will say it's for our own good), with noone speaking for us. Thanks again...

How often does day trader (in US) pay taxes?

Thanks for the info. on the Safe Harbor rules. The MSN article indicates I'd need to pay 110% of past years earnings to not worry about further payments. I'm not even sure that's why the IRS hounds me each year. Hear's my situation: It seems like they (IRS) are out to get me. Each of the...

How often does day trader (in US) pay taxes?

I went looking and I found that I need to put in 110% of last year's payments to avoid penalties. I wish I could predict my yearly income so the IRS would stop sending me those nasty little assessments. Now that I know about this provision, I'll send it in and give the govt. a interest-free...

    George Angell Fined

Seller of LSS made over $1 mill. selling the program and paid 50k to get out of trouble with the CFTC. Doesn't seem very fair to the buyers of the product that may have lost serious $. I think the CFTC should have made him repay all the buyers that were taken. Here's the PDF link to the CFTC...

How often does day trader (in US) pay taxes?

I pay every quarter. The last two years I got dinked for not witholding enough, so this year I put in 80% of Q1's profits. Maybe that'll keep the hounds at bay.

the toughest part day to day

Stress and/or emotion isn't an issue for me. I only risk 1/2% of equity on any one trade. I stalk trades (sometimes for hours). The hardest part for me is to keep my head on trading while I'm waiting for the setups to appear. Sometimes I even catnap.
