I understand that we were unable to change the base currency of trading account. Can we do it now? I read that we can change the reporting currency, that is the reporting is done in the nominated currency. But what about the base currency?

    IB unbundled always cheaper?

Thanks for replies. I do hold overnights sometimes for weeks. Can someone confirm whether there will be $0.10 charge per contract per overnight? Someone posted he never get charged. Hmmm...Seems like this is the only thing before I switch to unbundled. But I still can't understand why IB go...

    IB unbundled always cheaper?

Hi, I need some help regarding IB bundled vs unbundled. I have been reading some past posts and most say that if you are doing reasonable volume, then you should opt for unbundled. But, from what I see on the IB website, unbundled is ALWAYS cheaper than bundled even if volume is less than 300...

Help with IB Rates for stocks

For the ETFs, how would I know if IB has stocks available for traders to short? Is it OK to initiate shorts on ETFs on the assumption that stocks are available? What about margin? If I were to short say $10,000 worth of ETF, how much margin is required? Thanks

Help with IB Rates for stocks

I have not traded stocks before with IB. Need some help on IB's commmssion rates. For bundled rates, IB's rate is $0.005 per share. Example, purchase of 1,000 share @ $50 share price will cost $5. Does this include ALL exchange or whatever fees? Another question is: can i short the stocks...

Are naked puts really this safe????

Hi MAW, Can you give an example of how a call purchasing and a short future would be cheaper than buying a put? If that is true, is it possible to profit from arbitrage? If not, is the transaction costs including slippage the main reason that there is no arbitrage profit? Thanks

IB or Thinkorswim in terms of security of funds

I think I have made up my mind to go full blast with IB. I hope I am not wrong with this "trade". this type of trade can be the most important. i will not even diversify to other brokerages as Buffett says "too much of a good stock is wonderful!" I do hope that IB will continue to improve on...

IB or Thinkorswim in terms of security of funds

Thats what I thought too, that they are quite strict with many things and this tells me that they are serious about security. I am just wary of them going under if some of the banks they deposit their money with or their counterparties fold. Another factor is their parent company Timberhill...

IB or Thinkorswim in terms of security of funds

I am thinking of increasing my trading capital in Interactive Brokers. I want to put most of my savings there as they do pay good interest. Security of my funds is very important. I simply cannot take it if I woke up one day and see my broker go bust and lose my life savings. I was also thinking...

    Paradox of value investing

What Cutten is saying is that why do you wait until the stock is $40 before buying? Surely you might consider buying it at $75, $70 $65, or $60? Taken to the extreme, why not buy at say $79.50. You have $0.50 profit there! Another difficulty of value investing is : by insisting on a big enough...

    Purely Mechanical Option Trading

I might have missed something but why don't you trade with futures given the accuracy of your system? If the opportunities can only be traded in the options market, does that mean that the options market are indeed priced wrongly from time to time? It's counter-intuitive that given such huge...

These kind of Profits CAN'T last!

Allowing people like Puretick to be sponsors here and then talk unprofessionally just degrades the quality of this forum. It also bring bad image to other genuine advertisers. This Alex used to talk quite politely and professionally but look at him today...pathetic...

"IB LLC" more busy than Timberhill w/ "counterparty" market making?

This thread requires a serious answer from IB. And, kiwi trader, why is it that you always defend IB no matter what? I have read others saying you are a defendant of IB's interest. I was skeptical but looks like they MIGHT be right. Your blatant brush off is sickening.

Screwed by IB? "Tough luck dude"

Hi Oldtrader, I can see from your post that you are a very meticulous guy. You just wrote a long passage with no spelling and grammatical errors. Something not common in most postings.:p
