    Cutting through the hype

Here are my thoughts on this. Yes there are tons of snake oil salesman in this business. The trading business focuses on pushing one product. That product is money. Dollar and a dream should be the motto of most people offering seminars and writing books. However "Lotto" has a copyright on...

    Cutting through the hype

Lets pose this scenario: What if there was somebody who had a rather large size account. That basically played the daily, hourly and weekly time frames for swing trades that lasted 1-10 trading days. No daytrading at all, no chatroom 100 trades a day nonsense. If that person had a website...

    I need a good story....

Sounds like your a little depressed because your not making big money any longer. Well here is some advice. I wouldnt ask people on ET for advice. Most of these clowns have not made jack shit in their entire trading careers. (Most of whom dont have any trading careers and are just on the...

Best prop firm for remote traders

To begin with you can think what you want to as to how much money people who walk in to prop shops have. I will bet you anything that the majority of them are essentially walking in with 5-10k in "thrown" together savings. Secondly, getting a series 7 means squat in my eyes, I have helped...

Best prop firm for remote traders

I have decided to get a little defensive here if you call it that. I get such a kick out of the Play on Words that these firm owners such as Don Bright love to use to place their services and customers on a pulpit. A person who is broke, has no savings, but can take a 5k credit card loan from...

    Are these rates any good???

Yep, they didnt pay their bill and baron got screwed for 3 months of advertising bills from them. In other words this shit hole business (directnettrading) is out of business.

Arcsinus law: distinguishing trend from persistency of chance

Smartest words spoken in this thread. I agree 100% (and thats no statistical anomaly!). The eggheads throughout my finance classes back in the 80's with their efficient market hypothesis forgot one thing. All market participants are not equal in "size, shape and stature" such as dice. Thank...

Arcsinus law: distinguishing trend from persistency of chance

Harry lets say your copulation of other peoples work on the theory of "clumping" in statistical distribution being perceived as cause for trend when viewed on a micro basis holds water. Furthermore, lets say that a trader who is using TA and has been profitable for 20 years in a row is just...

    Traders of today...

You spoke in the beginning that your post also refers to traders who are backed by their own money. I will assume your saying traders who trade at home with their own money and leverage. I would fall into that category. Trade for myself, with my own money, barely have the need for margin...

What is a good percentage annual return for a day trader?

Specul8r its almost impossible for anybody on this site or in general to believe that there are a few people that are able to consistently make money trading in the market. Most want to believe they need a computer system, others want to believe in the efficient market theory and speak in egg...

What is a good percentage annual return for a day trader?

Mr. M its me again. You say your not a daytrader and it only takes you a couple of hours a week to work on your trading system. You also state proudly you have an MBA from Wharton. With these 2 facts I can assume you're working and at your age I can further assume your in upper mgmt at some...

What is a good percentage annual return for a day trader?

If you have any real examples of traders that are actually doing this well consistently, please have them pm me. I would be willing after verifying their statements to have them each trade 150k capital with 4-1 buying power where they can keep 75% of what they make and not have to take any of...

    TA - Self-fulfilling prophesy?

To me this nonsensical talk about the Holy Grail of trading implies a mythical system that never loses. People who are only willing to trade or believe that you can only make money in the stock market by being right all the time should take a rain check out of this profession right away. The...

    TA - Self-fulfilling prophesy?

Hey Harry Long time since we spoke. I would define simple as the fact that I can trade off of a line chart with just volume on it and have a statistical edge that will "skim" money to my account over the long run. TA, Quant, understanding market Psych, etc etc etc is all summed up the same way...

    a little market history

Nasdaq was down around 9.8% for the month of Decemeber in 2002 you don't consider that a huge selloff? Nasdaq was down 5% for the month of Dec in 2000 as well. Now yes these were bear market years but they were still pretty big down months % wise. Just wondering what market you have been...

    a little market history

Just to give you a bit more of history, the NAZ for the month of Dec was down in 1995, 1996,1997,2000, and 2002. HMMM that seems like alot more than "never been down" in the "whole" time you have been in the game since 93. Next time at least check out the facts before you post something like this.

    a little market history

You have been in the game since 93 and you have yet to 2 c a negative december? Hmmm maybe you can look back as far as lets say......................last year dec 2002! Least year the Nasdaq was down 10% for the month of Dec. How did you miss this?
