Aside from strategy runner, I know TradeBold and eFloorTrader. eFloorTrader was the easiest to integrate with which is the reason I went with them.

Sounds like the server you were using was over loaded by the clearing firm. I've had very good luck using the J-Trader platform.

The software is very powerful. The only set back I saw was that it doesn't allow backtesting. The thing I liked the most was it can automatically convert your easy language code to whatever language they use. Pretty cool though.

I read the thread quite well thank you. My input was based on experience and personal opinion. Just like a trade, you never know who will be right, but I prefer to cut my losses. Based on the rules I've traded successfully, I would fade Turoks trades without question!!!

AMEN. Find yourself some software or manually monitor forward testing results. If you'd like validity to your results, I'd look at the number of trades. 10 trades in a 10 year period provide no validity. However if you are trading 100 times a day throughout that period, there may be some...

Are you over-leveraged? Being able to cover margins doesn't always mean you properly leveraging your account. Aside from that, my best advice is to cover ASAP. Your risk/reward ratio on this trade is extremly unfavorable. You must live to trade another day if you ever plan to make it.

Have you considered programming your setups and allowing your computer to trade for you? It's the ultimate way to discipline yourself and free yourself from your screen.

I used study material from Dearborn. Can't comment on how it compares, but I did very well on the test. At the time, I was required to have a firm sponsor me as well. Not sure what has changed since then.

Personally I would base those numbers on your risk tolerance, investment objective, etc. You have to ask yourself how big of a loss you can stomach, how much return you expect on the money, and if it's realistic to achieve those returns without exceeding your maximum loss. If not, you're better...
