What is the best state of mind for trading?

"Your are lucky, it took me two (years) + tears to finally have utter faith and trust in the system I use - now emotion is gone - except the joy of making good money the easy way." (Oten). I think you've done exceptionally well. I have an economics degree, a tested business background and...

Elliot Wave Calls the Top... Again

"I can't really trade it" .. it is "speaking in generalities, maybes and could be with no time frame". (mBear) That says it all. And yet it still seems to endlessly engage a lot of otherwise sensible minds. You need accurate comparative prognostication .. thats timing, expected move size...

    Fading a system....

If you are going to "reverse the signals of (a worst) system, and trade it from the other way" you are already well down the wrong track; you have lost your way and just want to jack away your time. You have to have, or better still you have to develop, your own system that works very...

What is the best state of mind for trading?

RIGHT ON .. it is "absolute trust and faith in a proven system" (Oten). My system is now so reliable it means you can sometimes see points against you and be completely calm and unconcerned. You have to obtain the Holy Grail .. its taken one years intense work of research with back testing...

What is the best state of mind for trading?

Amen. Once you have the Holy Grail do not let your emotional reckoning into the equation .. just let your system gather the harvest daily.

    Buy low .. sell high

I'd don't as such "buy low and sell high" at particular price levels; I've pointed at my methodology which, put simply, exploits the major daily gyrations (ie Dow). It would interesting if anyone else can say how/why they may "buy low and sell high". Giving away no secrets, can you define...

    Buy low .. sell high

'Buy low, sell high' or 'Buy high, sell higher' always seem to me not to have any real meaning or alternatively are just circular expressions. Do you 'Buy low, sell high' or 'Buy high, sell higher'? If the next day's play is at higher prices levels (say, Dow) well, sure I can only buy...

    reality imitates art..... wallstreet

Nice one from you surfer. This next one has to be a common favourite. "I don't throw darts at a board. I bet on sure things. Read Sun-tzu, The Art of War. Every battle is won before it is ever fought. " Gordon Gekko How true for a successful trading strategy. Thats one for all traders!

    reality imitates art..... wallstreet

Because it is the saga of success. Being successful. Its the male thing. Poor boy becomes rich boy. Or not so poor boy becomes a lot richer. And with success all the goodies .. riding in style in a limousine, the hot chick, the very smart apartment, rubbing shoulders with other the top...

Countries which do not tax traders' capital gains...

Mentioned the Liechtenstein formula earlier in this thread and can say I have had personal knowledge of its use by a very big operator in futures/corporate arrangements to effectively and legally avoid almost all tax on both income and capital. It can be done with a little complexity as was...

Countries which do not tax traders' capital gains...

Why not set up a Liechtenstein trust for your trading account, huh? Then only pay tax on any money you transfer from it to yourself assuming that this is treated as income. Effectively this should avoid any taxation on your capital (namely your accruing profits from trading).

Presumably we are talking about statistical analysis; you don't have a quick-fix link to elucidate the "bell curve .. the current shape (where) you have an idea of where price is going", do you? Regards.

"If that is true, looking at the shape of the distribution gives a knowledgeable trader a general idea of where price is likely to move on an intraday and daily basis." Daily basis .. that would be nice. Reveal a little more to the non-maths audience at Elite Trader.

    Amateurs Open, Professionals Close

There is a lot to know and understand about the behaviour of a market at the Open and at the Close. This is topic of rich interest, undoubtedly. It is intriguing when it is said 'Amateurs play the Open; professionals play the Close.' Presumably amateur means individual traders, prop or...

trade what you think, not what you see PART 1

"Trade what you see" sounds good and I have in the past agreed with that phrasing because of the obsession most have with trendlines and waves. "Trade what you see" is actually 'trade what you recognize'.. from experience and usage. But best is 'trade what you should know' .. the parameters...
