    Trading Tools for Linux Users?

Perhaps the best answer to that is stability, security, and customizability. Of course these things are important to those who know how to use them efficiently. Linux is not an easy platform to master, but its been around decades longer than windows, and is still debatably more stable than...

    IB Improvements (Part 3)

I wash checking out the new features to their workstation a few minutes ago and I have been greatly impressed. The improvements have come a long way in the last two months that I've been using it. They are constantly updating it with a good number of new features each week or so. Anyway, I...

a shout out to the seasoned veterans

This is my opinion also...but I guess that we'll just have to wait and see. I personally think that the largest problem will arise in the ability for a common invester/daytrader to trade them...since I haven't seen many brokerages offering them...

    IB Support

I don't know what everyone is talking about when they say that "for the commissions and the platform" that IB is a great deal.... Yeah their commissions are great... in fact they are the best available...to my knowledge. On the other hand... their platform is not great. It is improving...

    Limiting Beliefs

In a word: Insurance. This is especially true of the derivative markets. We allow others to use us as insurance against possible decline. It makes sense that when I sell an option I obtain a profit (premium) for my risk. That is was insurance is all about... Think of it as an...

    Globex

I think that they shouldn't change... but I could swear that I have seen the DJIA index ticker and the NASDAQ (NDX) changing when I wake up... I've never understood it. That's why I'm asking.

Alirght, I've been interested in trading the e-mini futures and I've been watching them carefully for a couple of weeks now.... What I can't seem to figure out is not really about the e-minis at all, but it is instead about the indexs... I have noticed that the indexs such as NDX and INDU...

    IB Login - Sunday Eve

I too have had trouble logging in, but my problems are greater than just one day. I also have had trouble on saturdays... Perhaps I just hadn't noticed that I was unable to logon to IB on saturdays because I haven't tried before.... When are they supposed to be available?

    BOX - Boston Options Exchange

Yes I second all that Freehouse has to say here! Make it fair. We don't need another electronic exchange... ISE...etc. We need something that will be useful. If you can show us how it will give us an edge over what is currently available then perhaps I will become more interested...

    Problem with networking/internet-connection

Have you tried uninstalling the software/drivers for the hardware and reinstalling them? Use the device manager... Also, visit the manufacturer's website of the network card to verify that it is fully compliant with XP... they also might have different/new drivers to handle your problem...

    Need Option Advice

IMHO, you should be very careful with slippage. For example, the current spread between QQQ ITM options can be .05 ~ .10 or more depending on market conditions. To be conservative, let's say that you were lucky enough to get into an option position on the QQQs at the ask when the ask is only...

Best book to learn multiple option strategies?

"Option Volatility and Pricing" Sheldon lays out a good number of examples and includes a great deal of theory. The book is a bit dry, but it will sufficiently educate you on options strategies as well as detail as to their strengths and weaknesses. One of the strengths of this book is that...

Considering its tight range Sun might be an excellent stock to sell uncovered (or covered) options on... if you're into that kind of thing :)
