    Weinstein Trading and Fading

No offense to Robert. I think it's great that you've posted all your trials and tribulations as a trader in this thread. However, to see that you've managed to parlay that openness into a budding career of providing investment advice on both your website as well as other places (e.g., Seeking...

Better options commissions -- TDAmeritrade or IB?

I think what TD and TOS has going for them is the flat rate pricing, which makes it very predictable. IB has so many pass throughs, which in turn are highly dependent on which exchange their SMART algo decides to route your order, that it's difficult to gauge your commissions until you actually...

Better options commissions -- TDAmeritrade or IB?

Anyone out there actually have experience trading options with both brokers? You can't compare commissions simply based on what's stated on the website because IB doesn't have all-in-one pricing, so there are exchange/cancel/modify fees to take into consideration, and although IB's SMART...

    Source of "Clean" EOD Data?

Thanks Bob. Yeah, I'm thinking I might have to just plow through it as well.

    Source of "Clean" EOD Data?

I'm currently backtesting an equity trading strategy that is based on the high/low of EOD data to determine whether or not I get into a trade. However, there are tons of examples where just looking at the OHLC for the day I'm led to believe that it was a volatile day, but when I look at the...

    Best front end to IB?

What's most frustrating is that I would go back to Excel 2010 32-bit, but I have a bunch of files that are so big they crash in 32-bit, which means I need the 64-bit installation. Also, it looks like I managed to get the TwsDde file working in 64-bit, but it doesn't have the ability to get the...

    Best front end to IB?

Thanks Lee. Simultaneous 32 and 64-bit versions of 2010 are not allowed. I think 32-bit 2007 might be allowed alongside 64-bit 2010. Such a bassackwards way of doing things, though. Unfortunately it might be the only way if I can't find another front end.

    Best front end to IB?

I've been using IB's excel spreadsheets for quite some time to do a market scan, perform some calculations and then batch submit equity orders. But, I've recently upgraded to Office 64-bit and IB's Excel files are somewhat unstable, and IB provides limited support for them. Just curious if...

Hey $Cost. Always very insightful posts. I remember some time ago you said you used VectorVest to determine which sectors are heating up. I've thought about subscribing. Do you still use it?

IB Changes its Market Scanner Filters Without Notifying Anyone

I use their market scanners every day for my trading, and it looks like they changed it up over the weekend without even telling their cust svc people or giving any clear instructions on how things have changed. So, whereas before if I wanted to filter based on volume I would enter the gross...

Bill gates: will not pass down fortune to children.

If I were Gates I'd do the same thing. Considering he owns 620MM shares of MSFT, if he was to leave it to his kids, they'd have to dump 100's of MM of shares to pay the estate tax, which would send the stock tanking. So half would go to the govt and the remainder would shrink in value. He...
