    Anyone know much about NDFs?

Specifically how they're treated for tax purposes?

    Dukascopy, anyone trade with them?

Do we know for sure if they're using FXCM to provide price feeds and liquidity, or are they just licensing their platform because it's cheaper than building their own retail offering?

If health care passes will the market go up or down?

So if confidence comes from the top down, than how do you explain the less than 50% approval from Gallup and this bull market? The reality is that this market is bloating because of monetary policy, not because of presidential politics. Exactly where has there been any legislative or policy...

    Anyone use ACM (AC-Markets)?

Another swiss FX broker. Spreads seem ridiculously bad, their demo is currently showing 2.8 for EURUSD. Anyone here use them? Have anything good or bad to say?

Are US citizens allowed to trade FX with foreign brokers?

Upon further investigation, DukasCopy allows you to keep your funds in a segregated Swiss account, of which there are US banks that are registered as such. So that seems like an actually safer place than US brokers, which do not allow you to segregate your accounts (as I understand).

For those who trade the currency/metal/energy ETFs, how do you deal with tax issues?

So are most people trading these in their IRAs?

If health care passes will the market go up or down?

Not convinced here. We have a DOW above 10k because of ZIRP. Some would say DOW above 10k is indication of strong appetite for risk, where the dollar is a short term safety haven. Gold is showing the dollar is a weak long term safety haven, and that is with little to no inflation.

    Exotic forex options brokers?

What nadex offers is simpler, they have simple binaries (weekly and multiple intraday contracts), plus they have what is essentially a capped NDF, which lets you trade as if you're trading futures, but with fixed gains and losses. Pretty much everything settles against CME closing prices, but...

The Global Oil Scam: 50 Times Bigger than Madoff

What I find interesting is that during the climax of the oil spike last year, the media and the politicians were screaming about speculators driving up the price. The commitment report showed a net short position on oil. Things are never as easy to explain as people like to believe. Landis...

    Exotic forex options brokers?

Have you looked at Nadex? Or IGMarkets? IG owns Nadex, fwiw. Nadex is regulated by the CFTC.

    Exotic forex options brokers?

nadex.com offers binaries on not just forex but commodities and equities indexes, and is also regulated by the CFTC, so therefore legal in the US.

    SocGen & Doomsday predictions

That is one explanation, but not the only one. The stock market rising and the dollar falling can also be an indication that there is increased appetite for risk, and therefore those who had previously cashed out and went to dollars as safety are exiting and looking to get back into the market...

    Dukascopy, anyone trade with them?

I've been reading conflicting things about them. Putting aside the fact that your funds would be unprotected with them, keeping in mind that they allow you to place your funds in any Swiss bank and still trade through them (thus they should be just as safe as if they were in a US bank), what do...

The Global Oil Scam: 50 Times Bigger than Madoff

That's great, but can you give a little more of a substantive rebuttal? I'm not saying you're wrong, but you're begging the question with this kind of response. In a few words, why is he wrong?

For those who trade the currency/metal/energy ETFs, how do you deal with tax issues?

This comment below suggests that even doing that is not a guarantee against a disqualifying tax event for a retirement account: http://seekingalpha.com/article/76542-currency-precious-metal-and-futures-etfs-don-t-get-caught-in-the-tax-trap#comment-165611

    Currency ETF or Everbank

Be very careful of the tax implications of currency or commodities ETFs. You can end up owing taxes even when you retain the ETF position, and or traded at a loss. See here: http://seekingalpha.com/article/76542-currency-precious-metal-and-futures-etfs-don-t-get-caught-in-the-tax-trap I would...

Best broker for auto-trading US equities?

Yes, custom developed strategies. I'm just looking for a clean API, I don't care what it is. Good clean API, and reasonable commissions. Preferably DMA, but it seems most DMA brokers require larger account positions and volume.

For those who trade the currency/metal/energy ETFs, how do you deal with tax issues?

It seems the biggest drawback of these ETFs is that you can have tax liabilities even when you have negative returns on your trades. This seems clearer for buy and hold, but what about short term trading of these ETFs? It seems the tax issues would be even more complicated. Any thoughts...

Does the Year for Silver and Gold American Eagles Matter?

If you're in the kind of pinch where you need gold, it's because nobody wants your paper money (presumably). In which case, you'll be eating and drinking much more with gold.

I suppose like anything, don't risk more than you're willing to lose.
