    IB Support

Me three, as long as they can get TAL (or someone else) to support the customers directly. To add the support responsibility to IB's existing help desk would seem to be stretching an already thin resource even further.

What is more important than cheap commission?

What follows is, of course, MHO. YMMV. The tone of the original post is kind of harsh, so I'm not making any effort to be non-confrontational. The author should not take it personally :-) This is simply the way that NYSE is. It mostly doesn't stop your order from getting exposure to the...

IB ActiveX control rejects orders of certain prices?

The latest beta release notes have a vague reference to a fix related to rounding.

    IB's BEST market orders

At some point in my past, I know I used a broker that was passing through all the ECN fees. At the time, I thought the rebate was $0.0025. Does anyone use one of these brokers now, and can you tell us what the rebate is there? I'd be surprised if IB isn't getting the best deal.

    IB Price Feed?

It's amazing to me that IB continues to tell some people they are using Direct+ and others that they are not. In my experience, too, I do not believe they are using Direct+. I've had way too many orders that would otherwise be Direct+-eligible, take 90 seconds to fill, and receive price...

Who is IB's Data Feed Provider?

Heh. If they won't tell DEF, maybe the real answer isn't forthcoming soon, so I'll throw in my two cents of speculation :-) Lacking evidence to the contrary, I'd believe that the NYSE quotes come from the NYSE itself. I've watched them against other quote vendors and they are always the...

    Don's Opening's Journal....

How about the obvious one: trading blocks is very different than trading kilos. Block-sized orders give traders and specialists something to shoot at, while smaller orders simply trade with the rest of the noise. For that reason, trading blocks would seem to involve a lot more understanding of...

    IB slow today?

I'm running 752.6 standalone and had no problems today pre-market and after-hours.

    IB slow today?

Correct. You can not log in to the same username/account more than once. It would sure be nice if they'd change this. Even if they limit it to 2 or 4 sessions to keep people from abusing it in some way.

IB TWS APIs - Great until IB crippled them

Actually, there are restrictions on auto-quoting ETFs, but I agree that's no reason to limit the APIs in this way, and am just as pissed about it. Why not just prevent the particular behavior that is prohibited instead of just making the API useless? A conspiracy-minded friend of mine...

    Even lots (100's) or not?

Not for exchange-listed stocks. What's always puzzled me when I get hit for those 1 or 2-share fills is why the person didn't then realize the mistake and hit me again for the rest. Or maybe there really are people out there that buy 1 or 2 shares on purpose :)

    IB ActiveX

I, too, would like to know the password so I can run the demo from my installed version of TWS. This is the only reasonably safe way to test that things actually work right with the exact release that I have installed standalone. DEF: Any chance of finding this out, or is it meant to be a secret?

    Even lots (100's) or not?

If you are doing basket trades for index/sector arbitrage with anything less than a huge amount of money, I'd expect that you would always be doing mixed-lot trades. As traders, we only hate odd lots because of their lesser liquidity, or because of restrictions or additional charges put on...

    Even lots (100's) or not?

Odd lots don't seem to be as big an issue any more for NASDAQ stocks, especially the ones that are very liquid where Island and ARCA (which do not have odd-lot restrictions, and therefore probably handle the bulk of that volume) are usually at the inside market. Be aware that there is...

    IB Improvements (Part 2)

Does anyone have the upgrade exe for v752.6, who can make it available to me? This is the release immediately preceeding the latest one. It was probably posted around 2002/02/08. I upgraded to 753.5 and now need to roll back. Unfortunately, in my backup before the upgrade, I forgot to backup...

    Is IB's 1099 for 2001 wrong?

Still, it's non-trivial to do this. Like most people, my trade spreadsheet includes commissions on both buys and sells in calculating its totals. My "handle" for last year was over $55M, in about 6000 trades. Just getting a 1099 figure to balance against this is difficult enough, without having...

    Is IB system down?

I set up a timeline in my Outlook calendar to keep track of various IB and exchange hours. My experience is slightly different than def's. My timeline says that IB is down from 22:50 to 00:30 EST, though it is often up again between 00:00 and 00:15. On Fridays, it stays down after 22:50 until...

    IB ActiveX

That's kind of like replacing your whole house when a window is broken :-) Insted of removing that directory and it's contents (and spending hours reconfiguring), while TWS is not up, edit the user.ini file within that directory that you mentioned. Search for the line: DdeId=xxxxxxxx...

better late than never I guess

In the last couple days, I've received a couple of these form letter responses to emails that were quite old and no longer relevant. The primary guy that handled the email from customers (Dan) was let go a couple weeks ago - a real step backwards now for customers. They're apparently now...

    IB Improvements (Part 2)

Did anyone get a solution to this today? I really wanted to do some development this weekend.
