Looking to find a trading mentor

LOL, very good question. I cannot get a friend of mine, a very good trader in his own right, to mentor me. He makes all kinds of "excuses" including that this is really boring and I just need to practice more. I think he is right and I suspect that those eager to mentor others may not...

Open source command line linux portfolio backtesting

Pardon my naive, perhaps, question, but what exactly do you expect to get from this that you may not get by using Amibroker that seems to be better suited for this kind of task than most other retail products in its class? Processing more data? Is that what you are basically after?

    Trade like Ray Dalio

Sounds interesting. I will check out his "Principles" and thanks for sharing.

    In the year 2020...

Right on the money. The mind-body connection is something you don't want to ignore if you are an active trader. I make sure to exercise regularly or at least to be physically active. I also like to spend an hour or so in the sun every day or as often as possible. Keeps you in good mood and...

Now Steven Cohen is charged... why ever read another Market Wizard book?

I have known of this blog, but thanks for sharing. I agree with your other comments.

Can we make ET a better place?

They are not. Twitter is not a substitute for a forum. Never will be.

Can we make ET a better place?

Are you saying that marketsurfer is not civil? Since when? He has always been nice to me. Perhaps you are not treating him well.

Woods... Will He Surpass Nicklaus's 18 Majors?

I doubt it too, but he still has many years in his career. He can still do it, but he needs to find his old self. In this form, he is just another player and not the champ we all remember.

$500+ a day trading index futures, possible?

Yes, it's possible. I know someone who is making that much and could be making even more if he cared, but he is a man of many interests, so money is not all he cares about. His account is at least 100K if I am not mistaken. You need money to make money.

Now Steven Cohen is charged... why ever read another Market Wizard book?

No one is perfect, of course, but the trading business has always attracted its share of dubious characters either not honest with themselves or not honest with others and I suspect that this share is bigger than in many other businesses because of the allure of "easy" money that somehow is...

After HFT, Quantum Computing Based Trading

Algorithms are not a problem. They can be worked out, but doing so is at this stage still makes little sense. It's the hardware that is the main issue, but the progress is being made and it's possible that quantum computing will eventually become a reality. Perhaps within the next 10-20 years.

    topsteptrader combine for Oraclewizard77

Yes, BT and SC are a very good combo. A friend of mine who is a phenomenal emini scalper swears on it, especially on the BT part. Without BT, his winning rate would be at least 5-10 points lower, he says. With BT his winning rate is over 90%.

    Trading as a Science Blog

I agree. People who use words like "science" or "scientific" are often ego-trippers or gimmick artists. Deepak Chopra and his fellow New Age gurus never tire of using quantum mechanics to sell their dubious wares. I get this spirituality thing, but not when QM is involved.

    Trading as a Science Blog

You call it "scientific"? Please... Science makes assumptions all the time. Every major physical theory is based on assumptions. They are often called postulates. So is mathematics, its assumptions are called axioms. There is more to science than you seem to realize. I may revisit this next...

    10 Days With TopStepTrader

You are right about the risk part, but apart from that, the only time you probably don't want to trade is around 2 PM for about 20-30 minutes. Otherwise, it's pretty much business as usual. I am not sure if Austin is not trying to prove something, and too hard too. Combine may simply not be...

John Carter :Mastering the Trade, Second Edition:

Are you talking about John Carter? He is a CTA if I get it right, so he should feel comfortable showing his trading records, no? I thought he was one of those who were doing that. Was I wrong?

    Cornix's TA Performance

Good points. If your trades last seconds and you can take them at any moment it's silly to change what you do in order to satisfy those whose trading methods allow much more room for posting before trading. Different strokes for different folks.
