The Ultimate DAX Scalping Discussion Thread!

picking up the conversation from the VT thread. I agree with you that esignal is the best data feed, at least better than qcharts which is from where I came. For honing scalping abilities though I do believe that a replay is valuable. For me though it's better to go back a few days so I don't...

I'll stop posting on this thread so as not to take over Marks' nickel but I may like to pick up some of this discussion with you on your scalping thread.

TRY X-TRADER LIVE FREE FOR A MONTH AND TRADE AT OUR 20k CONTRACTS/MONTH RATE

I have esignal as a my data feed and used their charts for a couple years, Esignal does have a replay function but it's not a true replay i.e. not every tick at the pace which it occured realtime. Doesn't give your the capability to play it back in real time as it occured nor does it include...

TRY X-TRADER LIVE FREE FOR A MONTH AND TRADE AT OUR 20k CONTRACTS/MONTH RATE

Yes, I use neoticker which now provides a true tick by tick replay capability, including time and sales, can actually relive a trading period, I'm not sure any other platform does this to the extent that it totally appears as if you're watching realtime. I will frequently replay a session after...

TRY X-TRADER LIVE FREE FOR A MONTH AND TRADE AT OUR 20k CONTRACTS/MONTH RATE

I'm sure there are many trading DAX early session as well as ES, besides I thought you said you started trading dax about a month ago, I've been doing it since May 2003 :) I noticed with IB just that slight delay between the time I hit the order and it went native. Also I just didn't feel...

TRY X-TRADER LIVE FREE FOR A MONTH AND TRADE AT OUR 20k CONTRACTS/MONTH RATE

I started doing this around April or May of 2003 so my body has had some time to adjust to short spurts of sleep, I wake up alert and ready to go without the use of an alarm clock. Here's my schedule, east coast time. sleep 11:00pm-2:45am Dax trade 3:00am - 5-6am nap from 5:30-6:00am -...

TRY X-TRADER LIVE FREE FOR A MONTH AND TRADE AT OUR 20k CONTRACTS/MONTH RATE

no broadband available in my area at all. while I do have a fabulous mountain view from my office I have to struggle for internet connectivity. So don't take your cable connection for granted :) I'd have to add it all up but I probably pay about $400/month for 256K isdn connectivity. I'm...

TRY X-TRADER LIVE FREE FOR A MONTH AND TRADE AT OUR 20k CONTRACTS/MONTH RATE

I traded DAX for about 6 months with IB using one of the the 3rd party API's. It was fine 6-9 months ago when DAX was making bigger moves and I was only taking 2-4 trades/day. Once that style of trading was no longer applicable and my trade volume increased I had to ditch IB, having used jtrader...

The Ultimate DAX Scalping Discussion Thread!

I just recently made the move from jtrader and IB using ninjatrader recently to Xtrader. It really is a much more solid trading platform. You have to trade enough size to justify the platform fee but if you're trading for a living it seems to be a necessary tool imo.

It's a very funny coincidence you mention llama compost. That's exactly what I'm doing. I have some friends who have 6 llama and 6 minature donkeys. I made a deal with them, I lend them the use of my front end loader to move the compost piles in exchange for a years supply of llama compost. Very...

The Ultimate DAX Scalping Discussion Thread!

Hey Steve.. Personally I do have reservations, not necessarily because of support but that could be an issue with some brokers. Both of the firms I clear thru seem to be pretty consistent on their support. I haven't really traded since the 23rd and haven't been tempted to do so until we get past...

Just basic stuff. I've found that on the dax for some reason indicators don't really work so well. I use moving averages to determine the trend. Then I trade primarily off bar charts and volume.

just entered another at 55.5. pretty simple, look for a retracement on decreasing volume and then take a position into the trend. look to take a partial fairly quickly to remove risk then hope the remainder will move for a more substancial move. For example on this last one I took +3 on 1/2...

buying/selling retracements into the trend has been my strategy for a while. worked ok this again this morning for a couple 10+ point moves each. 4:55am 3843 long then 3851 long at 5:22am east coast time.

I should probably keep my mouth shut as I'm trading much differnt than you guys so have a different perspective, sill find it interesting to observe different styles. not a scalper so I get bored waiting for a setup :) that last retracement finally gave me a decent long entry at 43.. took...

yep but look at some charts from 3 months ago. totally different type of move. for me the only setup came right before 4:00am and I held off because of the ifo.

Mark, Have you always scalp traded the dax, i.e. 4-6 months past when we got more deliberate moves were you still taking the volume of trades you do now or were you staying in more of the trending moves? It's interesting how these markets force you to adapt, I recall not that long ago my typical...

I believe market stops are native on Eurex but as Mark says you have to be careful how you place them. Personally I load a stop about 6 points out from where my working stop is, that way if I loose my platform or my internet connection I've got a safety net loaded in the form of a native market...

    What are your Trading Breakthroughs?

It is funny to hear you say this as I have a very similar experience. When I first started trading futures, I had no fear and did very well for a while but my experience/methodology wasn't good enuf to survive the market when it changed so I took a sizable drawdown. Then the fear came, I reduced...

I don't know that I agree with this regarding esignal, I use the esig data feed only, use neoticker for charts but I've found that esignal is a very solid feed. Since they converted the eurex feed back in july or so I've found that esignal is generally dead on in sync with my jtrader feed.
