Is this a decent computer for trading or can you recommend something better?

Sorry, I was under the impression that only NT7 was 64 bit compatable. It might be that NT6.5 will run on a 64 bit OS, but I don't think you will experience the benefits. NT7 has been designed to take advantage of 64 bits, but it hasn't been released outside of beta. I use NT with Zen-Fire...

Vendors = anyone who you receive data, charts, trading platform from.

Just remember to clarify whether your vendors are 64 bit compatible. You don't want 64 bit OS and then find out out your vendors aren't compatable. Windows 7 comes in 32 or 64 bit. eg: While 64 bit is going to be preferred, Ninja Trader 6.5 and Zen-Fire are not compatable at this time.

I would just pay the extra few hundred and get an i7 processor with 6mb of RAM (see http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/CyberPower_X58_Configurator/). The biggest problem you'll encounter with Windows 7 is that many of the data feeds and chart vendors won't be compatable until after the first...

Elitetrader never fails to entertain. I've been out enjoying the day after my early morning profits, courtesy of Don Miller's free strategy. Here's the link http://donmillerjournal.blogspot.com/ As I've already stated, the charts and strategy are from a blog 10 days ago. I'm not going...

This is why elitetrader is such a comical place to visit. As I said, there's nothing for me to share. It's Don's strategy and he has already shared it with you. Why not get it directly from him. It's all laid out in his blog of 10 days ago. His presentation and charts are already done, I...

WoW...This is silly. You start this thread and you haven't even read the last few weeks of his blog? Put just a small amount of effort into your quest to become a profitable trader. If you're not going to take 30 minutes to review Don's blog from 10 days ago and understand the simple...

And another 4 handle profit using one of Don's free strategies that he gave away on his blog. I don't know anything about Don or his course, but so far I'm happy with the free strategy that he posted. Free is a more than a fair price, especially when it works.

Well, traders can learn. I woke up in the middle of the night (pst) and saw that ES prices were trading in the 48-49 area. I took a small short in the 48 area and went back to bed (buy stops in). Just woke up and exited with 7 handles on my 5 lot. The entry was a set-up that Don has...

These are the types of threads that permeate this site: Everybody chimes in with no real knowledge, just a lot of speculation about what they "think" is going on. OP says: "This thread is about Don and his effort to teach his system." We'll that's going to be very difficult because from...

    Larry Williams Million Dollar Challenge

I guess we all get to decide how we want to spend our time. If you feel that becoming the "Consumer Reports" for traders is your calling, then good luck with it.

    Larry Williams Million Dollar Challenge

It's always comical to see someone, who has averaged about 1500 posts / year (approx. 7/trading day), insinuating that someone else posting a "real time trade journal" for even a short period of time will help them become a better trader. Who cares if LW posts 10 trades in row that are...

Looking to buy a new PC

http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/ You might be able to customize one of their $599.00 computers with upgrades to get you to where you want to be for under $1,000. I'd rather pay $100 for them to put the unit together for me rather than spending massive amounts of time figuring out if...

Zen Fire data feed in fast market

Sometimes the crap does turn into gold. My Ninja was running like glue this AM. I deleted all of my charts on one of my work stations and re-did them. So I then short a 5 lot in the 6E at .47 from the DOM. I start buying some back off of Chart Trader. I go to look at my position...

Zen Fire data feed in fast market

Are you thinking that NT7 will be less of a drain on the same CPU that is running at 70-90% during fast markets with 6.5?

Zen Fire data feed in fast market

It is the CPU then, spiked into the 90% area while memory usage stayed at around half of max.

Zen Fire data feed in fast market

Today has seemed particularly bad with the zf/nt set-up (between the 10am news and 10:30a). Lots of pauses, although I did get filled on some standing orders, while the pauses were happening. I'm thinking it is a combination of my CPU and video cards?

    Don Miller...

Because I just looked at this thread, I was lead to Don's blog. The first entry I read had this: “have a bias, but make sure to trade what you see, not what you think;” “the ups and downs, manage them, but stay in the game, you have to be present to win;” “the minute the...
