Where do you keep your cash?

Are you comfortable with the average maturity of 2.9 years for VBIRX? (Or, perhaps more aptly, the average duration of 2.8 years.) For me, the average duration frightens me off from using something like that as a cash proxy.

Where do you keep your cash?

GSY has returned 0.62% YTD even before distributions. With distributions, 1.7%.

Where do you keep your cash?

I don't use the full margin available in my account all the time, or even most of the time. Hell, I don't even use the full cash value -- right now I have a big cash position. Now having it as actual immediate cash isn't necessarily the best choice when there are things like money market funds...

    Alternatives to Esignal

Yeah WTF, amibroker's UI is both functional and beautiful. If it has a problem, it's that they rolled their own programming language (ugh) and have no real options support. But it's honestly looks pretty good otherwise.

    Interactive Brokers and pacing violations

Yes, it's correct. The pacing violations can be a PITA. If you want to use historical data, best think of what you want ahead of time and batch download it for offline use.

    Man....Go is FAST!

At the point where you're using either Go or C++, their speed is pretty heavily dependent on how you use them. (I've used both languages for projects.)

Is working Asian hours that bad?

It's still there. Most libs are pretty poorly documented, and many have documentation that is actively misleading. There are even some amazing libs like Pandas that have an immense volume of documentation that all has a very tiny signal-to-noise ratio! And of course there are always the libs...

    Alternatives to Esignal

Good to hear. I'll certainly start using Medved once it has real option support.

Is working Asian hours that bad?

You've given next to no details about the position so everybody's shooting from the hip trying to give advice. You'd probably be able to get some more accurate advice with more details. As far as millennials and Asian hours go: well, I'm a millennial. Not really sure it impacts anything. Having...

U.S. Kids Keep Getting Dumber; Ranked 31st Of 35 Developed Nations In Math, New Study Reveals

I guess I should have explained myself better. I picked those two specific examples for a reason. Russia for math because Russia has classically been a mathematical heavyweight. Finland for the others because Finland's educational system is legendary. Yeah, the USA average is pretty bad. I...

U.S. Kids Keep Getting Dumber; Ranked 31st Of 35 Developed Nations In Math, New Study Reveals

MA is directly ahead of some mathematical heavyweights like the Russian Federation. Room for improvement absolutely, but not in dire straits. I consider it kicking ass when you note that score along with the science and reading literacy. MA sits directly behind Finland for science and ahead of...

    Alternatives to Esignal

It was mentioned in the first post. They seem competent enough for equities. Their option support is virtually nonexistent and they have no plans to enhance it (yes, I asked).

U.S. Kids Keep Getting Dumber; Ranked 31st Of 35 Developed Nations In Math, New Study Reveals

Did anyone else actually read the report or are you all just regurgitating your biases? Massachusetts did fine. The US as a whole did not. Lesson to be learned -- copy Massachusetts, which is kicking ass despite one of the earlier posters railing about "lefty government" not wanting kids to be...

IB does not put my order to NBBO Bid

You didn't say where your order was actually routed to, or if you used IB's smart routing. This happens to me on occasion, I suspect it's either a delay in the data feed or smart routing doing its thing.

What factors should an algorithmic pre-seed startup fund use to trigger an automatic investment?

The ones that makes them the most money? Kind of a weird question, why don't you do some actual automated testing?

    GPU Puzzle

How much heat they generate is based on dissipated power. 100 watts is 100 watts whether a card has a fan or not. The fans just get it off the card. Some cards have fans that can exhaust the heat out of the back (where the card is slotted in), which means it's not all dumped in the tower. Most...

Computer scientists urge Clinton campaign to challenge election results

I'm not nitro and don't have a dog in this fight, but there's an enormous difference between voter fraud and results tampering. They're not even remotely the same thing -- like comparing an apple and a salmon.

Should I move to Tradestation ?

The thing that killed Tradestation for me was when I was first starting out, I wanted to try out various platforms. They wouldn't even let me demo their supposedly amazing, award-winning software without creating an account. So as a result they were never even in the running for my business...

New policy stances since Trump has taken the election!! Why even vote....

Obama wasn't a do-nothing president by choice. You know that big infrastructure plan Trump has, for example? Yeah, Obama had that same idea early on. Got filibustered. I remember the jobs bill fiasco quite clearly. (FWIW, that same thing is probably going to die in the senate once again. Mitch...

New policy stances since Trump has taken the election!! Why even vote....

If you expected Donald Trump, a man who lied more than any other presidential candidate in at least the last hundred years (that's not hyperbole), to stick to what he said on the campaign, then I have several different bridges up for sale.
